The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

Director of Business Operations – Security:
Position Summary:
The Director of Security Business Management is a critical strategic and operational leader responsible for driving the effectiveness, scalability, and efficiency of LA28’s Security organization through robust business operations. This role will lead budget planning and management, headcount forecasting and staffing operations, strategic initiative tracking and project management against specific milestones, vendor management, forecasting, and cross-functional program execution.
The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with a background in managing complex programs, budgeting, tracking, and helping to drive a high-performing operational team within a dynamic environment. Strong ‘team-player’ ethos and sense of mission is a must. This individual will work closely with Security leadership and cross-functional partners across the organization. This role will report to the Sr. Director for Physical Security, Risk and Business Management.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Business Operations
- Drive strategic planning, timelines, and milestones for the Security function.
- Contribute to and/or lead collaborative processes to draft and present strategic plans.
Budget & Financial Management
- Work with colleagues and leadership to forecast future needs, estimate and update budgets, revise and track spending.
- Partner with Finance to develop annual and quarterly forecasts, actuals and variances.
- Drive cost optimization strategies and ensure alignment to business priorities.
Workforce Planning & Talent Operations
- Develop and maintain headcount plans aligned with business growth and strategic goals.
- Partner with Security leadership, HR and Recruiting to ensure effective hiring, onboarding, and team structure planning.
Program & Project Management
- Lead key cross-functional PM efforts for the Security functional area; ensure high-impact projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Create and manage program roadmaps, reporting dashboards, and delivery processes.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align dependencies, resources, and execution timelines.
Vendor Management
- Develop and maintain vendor and contract management processes that support compliance and cost-effectiveness.
Communications & Stakeholder Engagement
- Prepare executive-level communications, including presentation decks, strategic updates, and other reports.
- Contribute to internal and external communications to align on goals, initiatives, and priorities.
- Represent the Security business function in cross-organizational forums and initiatives, as directed.
Background & Qualifications:
- Management experience in business operations, program management, or security/business strategy roles.
- Proven experience managing complex budgets, headcount planning, and demonstrated success in cross-functional programs.
- Experience working in fast-paced environments, start-ups/growth environments.
- Strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experienced in financial modeling, and comfortable with reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Excel, PowerBI).
- Must be flexible while able to apply structure.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Able to be work in our Los Angeles office, in-person, 4-5 days a week.
Education / Training / Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, Masters preferred
- PMP or similar project management certification, and/or educational focus in business, finance or a related field.
- Background or experience in security and/or government, public safety.
- Experience scaling-up operational functions.

The annual base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $170,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
