Senior Manager, Look and Signage Design Studio
The Senior Manager, Look and Signage Design Studio will lead the design execution for the LA 28 Look of the Games and Signage Design, ensuring consistency and alignment with the established event brand.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Look and Signage, this role is responsible for building and managing a team of designers, overseeing the creation of venue branding, wayfinding, signage, and environmental graphics, and ensuring high-quality visual integration across all assets.
A key responsibility of this role is the development of the Look Kit of Parts, Signage Kit of Parts, and City Kit of Parts—essential design frameworks that define how branding, signage, and venue dressing are applied across different environments. The Senior Manager will work closely with Look & Signage (LNS) leadership and the brand team to ensure these kits provide clear guidelines for seamless and consistent implementation, supporting both functional and aesthetic requirements.
The Senior Manager must work closely with the brand team to ensure all Look and Signage elements follow brand guidelines while maintaining functionality and impact.
Additionally, this role includes leading the design team to develop venue-specific Look Application Plans, ensuring tailored branding strategies for each location. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in environmental design, broadcast graphics, and large-scale sport event branding, as well as team leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Team Leadership & Oversight
- Hire, train, and manage a team of designers responsible for venue branding, signage, and wayfinding
- Advocate for the team’s workload and priorities, ensuring projects are executed efficiently
- Provide creative leadership while maintaining alignment with brand guidelines
Brand Implementation & Coordination
- Apply the existing brand, adhering to established guidelines from the brand team
- Work closely with the brand team to ensure brand vision is executed effectively across venues
- Ensure consistent branding across signage, venue dressing, and functional assets
Strategic Planning & Venue Applications
- Develop the Look Kit of Parts, Signage Kit of Parts, and City Kit of Parts in collaboration with department leadership
- Lead the creation of venue-specific Look Application Plans, adapting branding strategies for individual sites
- Consult on venue color schemes, ensuring environmental graphics translate effectively both on-site and on camera
- Oversee broadcast design integration, ensuring visuals meet TV presentation standard
- Have a good understanding of production processes and how the design fits into the process
Wayfinding & Mapping Management
- Consult on the development of the wayfinding and signage strategy
- Manage a wayfinding designer and a "You Are Here" map designer to ensure clear and functional mapping solutions
Sponsorship & Branding Integration
- Ensure sponsor recognition is effectively incorporated within venue branding while maintaining design integrity
- Consult on branding applications for sporting equipment and field-of-play signage, ensuring compliance with sponsorship agreements
Interdepartmental Collaboration & Consultation
- Work closely with LNS leadership and venue teams to ensure seamless execution of the Look of the Games
- Provide expert consultation on design assets, key client journeys, and overall branding strategy
- Consult on design software
- Work closely with suppliers to deliver printable art files to production houses
- Ensure healthy and productive supplier relations are upheld
- Ensure designs adhere to accessibility standards, including contrast, readability, and user-friendly layouts

Background & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in design leadership, preferably in environmental design and branding for large-scale sporting events
- Strong expertise in design platforms, wayfinding, signage strategy, and venue branding applications
- Deep understanding of Look of the Games principles and the ability to translate brand guidelines into functional assets
- Experience with broadcast graphics, ensuring visuals translate effectively on TV
- Knowledge of sport equipment branding and integration of sponsor recognition on the field of play
- Strong leadership skills, with experience managing teams and advocating for design priorities
- Excellent communication skills, able to collaborate across departments and manage stakeholder expectations
- Understanding of production processes and how design fits
Position Requirements:
- Candidates should expect a 4-5-day workweek, primarily based in the LA28 Los Angeles office
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer are required
- May involve standing and walking at events or venues
- Ability to lift and carry light materials (such as marketing collateral) as needed
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary, particularly leading up to key campaigns and milestone events
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in project management, logistics, operations or a related field.

The annual base salary range for this position is $115,000.00 - $130,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
