The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.

The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

Senior Manager, Games Family Services:

The Olympic and Paralympic Family Group typically includes IOC Members, IOC administration, IF and NOC Presidents and Secretary Generals, key executives of commercial partners and media rights holders, Presidents of several recognized organizations, key executives of candidate cities and future hosts of the Games.  It is also closely connected with local and international & domestic dignitaries and close collaboration is therefore necessary with the Protocol function of the Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (OCOG) in this respect.  

 

The Games Family Services (GFS) team represents the Olympic and Paralympic Family stakeholder within the OCOG and vis-à-vis the IOC/IPC and other external stakeholders. GFS is therefore responsible for defining, validating and coordinating service levels with other relevant Functional Areas (FA) and stakeholders’ representatives within the OCOG and external stakeholders.  

 

The GFS team is also responsible for the operational planning and management of the Olympic / Paralympic Family areas in competition and certain non-competition venues (Olympic / Paralympic Family Hotels, Ceremonies venues and official ports of entry).  

 

Reporting to the Director of Games Family Services, the Senior Manager, Games Family Services Operations is a senior leadership position responsible for the operational planning, coordination, and delivery of all services provided to the Olympic and Paralympic Family stakeholder group.

 

The role will play a critical part in the leadership of the GFS Function.  The successful candidate will be responsible for integrating operational efforts across internal functional areas and external stakeholders, ensuring that GFS operations meet world-class standards and contribute to the overall success of the Games. 

The role will oversee four core operational areas – Arrivals & Departures (meet & greet service for certain groups), GFS venue operations, Olympic/Paralympic Family hotel operations, and contribute to the GFS central planning – ensuring alignment with strategic priorities set by the Director and the vision of LA28 including the overall Games operational requirements.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Reporting 

  • Act as the principal operational lead for GFS, reporting regularly to the Director of Games Family Services on progress, risks, and key decision points 
  • Operationalize strategic goals set by the Director into actionable plans 
  • Serve as a key member of the GFS senior management team, contributing to the overall direction and leadership of the department 

 

Team Management & Development 

  • Manage a team of multidisciplinary team of four managers responsible for distinct operational areas, including the hiring process for the teams 
  • Provide regular coaching, guidance, and performance oversight in alignment with objectives set by LA28 
  • Promote, collaborate, innovation, and accountability across all areas of operations 
  • Contribute to the recruitment and training of a diverse workforce 

 

Operational Planning & Delivery 

  • Drive the development and execution of detailed operational plans for all Games Family Services touchpoints, including airports, hotels, competition venues, and non-competition venues 
  • Oversee readiness activities, including scenario planning, simulations, and test events, ensuring alignment with the broader Games-time operational timeline 

 

Integration & Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Coordinate closely with internal functional areas such as Transport, Accreditation, Security, Protocol to ensure seamless service delivery 
  • Support the Director with liaison with external stakeholders, including hospitality providers, International Olympic/Paralympic Committee counterparts 

 

Games-time Leadership 

  • Operate as a key decision-maker for GFS service delivery during the Games, working closely with the Director on the broader Games Operations leadership team. 
  • Support real-time coordination and troubleshooting with the GFS FCC and Main Operations Centre 
  • Ensure timely and effective resolution of operational issues affecting Games Family experiences 

Reporting, Evaluation and Transfer of Knowledge

  • Track report on operational performance and service level delivery to the Director of the GFS 
  • Support post-Games reporting, debrief, and transfer of knowledge  

 

Background & Qualifications:

  • Past multisport Games experience is a plus 
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in events or related industry 
  • Working knowledge of Government Protocol is a plus 
  • Proven track record of leading the planning and delivery of large-scale, complex operations across multiple project phases including planning, readiness, and operations 
  • Skill working with senior executives and building cross-functional partnerships 
  • Strong communication both written and oral 
  • Experience working with excel and Smartsheet applications 
  • Extremely detailed-oriented with excellent organizational skills 
  • A high energy level individual with the ability to manage through a period of growth and change 

Position Requirements:

  • Expectation to work out of the LA28 offices in Los Angeles. Job is located in Los Angeles 
  • Ability to conduct site visits to various Games venues, including airports, hotels, competition and non-competition locations. 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent work experience

  • Champion a culture of Boldness – Promote a GF-first mindset across all operational areas, ensuring consistent, respectful, and professional service deliver that reflects LA28 and the Olympic/Paralympic values.

The annual base salary range for this position is $115,000.00 - $130,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
