The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.
LA28, the organizers for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, is on a mission to create an unparalleled Games experience for athletes, fans, partners, our community and our people. The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

Head of Editorial Services
The Head of Editorial Services will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of all official editorial content for the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This role ensures that formal information shared with key stakeholder groups — including athletes, media, spectators, partners, and the Olympic and Paralympic families — is accurate, timely, consistent, and inspiring.
Editorial Services is a function under Digital Engagement and Marketing, acting as the official content provider across the organization. The successful candidate will drive editorial excellence, cross-functional coordination, and publishing innovation while maintaining alignment with Games protocols, brand identity, accessibility and sustainability standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Editorial Strategy & Governance
- Develop and implement editorial frameworks, guidelines, and approval processes to ensure clarity, consistency, and tone of voice
- Serve as the guardian of official Games language and messaging across all written formats
- Define and manage the translation strategy for all print and digital publications
Content Development & Oversight
- Oversee the creation and production of key stakeholder publications, including Venue Handbooks, Sport Guides, Spectator Guides, and Accreditation Manuals
- Ensure content is accurate, relevant, and localized as needed
Cross-functional Coordination
- Act as the central editorial liaison across the organization to ensure content accuracy and alignment
- Coordinate with all functions to deliver content in the appropriate format, timeline, and context
Stakeholder & Partner Alignment
- Maintain editorial consistency across internal and external partners, including the IOC, IPC, broadcasters, sponsors, and NOCs/NPCs
- Provide editorial guidance and standardized terminology to ensure partner-generated content aligns with brand voice and messaging
Imagery & Rights Management
- Oversee the use of imagery (photos and videos) across all editorial materials
- Ensure all visual content adheres to copyright, licensing, and branding requirements
Print & Distribution Management
- Define a strategic approach to digital vs. print publications in alignment with sustainability goals
- Lead print production planning, ensuring quality control, cost efficiency, and timely distribution
Marketing & Communications Support
- Collaborate with MarComms to provide factual, engaging content that reinforces the brand and enhances audience engagement
Legacy & Knowledge Transfer
- Manage the archiving and knowledge transfer of all editorial content and media assets, ensuring proper documentation of image rights and usage agreements
Background & Qualifications:
- Minimum 8+ years in editorial, publishing, or communications leadership, ideally in a large-scale, international or multi-stakeholder environment
- Strong experience overseeing multilingual content in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex editorial operations and large cross-functional teams
- Proven track record in content planning, editorial standards, and publication production
- Understanding of IP rights, licensing, and editorial compliance frameworks
- Experience in major sports events, past Olympic or Paralympic Games, or public institutions is highly desirable
- Fluency in English required; additional language (both spoken and written) skills especially Spanish and French will be highly preferred
Position Requirements:
- Ability to work on-site in an office environment, based in Los Angeles, CA
- The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Graphic Design, or related equivalent work experience

The annual base salary range for this position is $126,000.00 - $170,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
