The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

Head of Venue Logistics
The Logistics department is responsible for effectively and efficiently providing materials management and logistics support to all LA28 functions. The Head of Venue Logistics involves overseeing the full lifecycle of planning, implementation, recruiting, training, and supervising staff members; ensuring a seamless, secure and sustainable movement, storage, distribution and recovery of goods across all competition and non-competition venues. The position plays a critical role in establishing operational framework across the games network, building the logistics workforce, and ensuring the timely and efficient movement of goods and materials in alignment with Games-time requirements and sustainability goals. Reporting to the Senior Director, Logistics, the ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a high level of customer service excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Personnel Supervision
- Stand up Venue and Village Logistics sub-stream to address emerging priorities and drive strategic initiatives
- Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and support to venue logistics staff across all competition and non-competition sites
- Develop and deliver training programs to ensure personnel are equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and safety awareness
- Monitor staff performance and productivity, offering coaching, feedback, and development opportunities to maintain high service standards
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance team culture that reflects LA28’s values and commitment to excellence
Venue / Village Planning
- Manage the Venue / Village Logistics budget ensuring cost-effective and resource-optimized operations
- Verify resource requirements including staffing, equipment types & quantities, as well as compound intangibles ensuring effective operations across all venues and villages
- Refine service levels for all venue and villages to effectively manage the receipt, storage, distribution, and continuous supply of equipment
- In coordination with Material Planning, oversee the functional allocation of Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (FFE) across all venues and villages to ensure optimal utilization and alignment with operational needs
- Assess and define the feasibility of establishing Logistics compounds across all venues and villages, ensuring alignment with operational requirements, spatial constraints, and strategic objectives
- Collaborate with Event Management and Venue Infrastructure (Overlay) teams to determine the physical footprint and space requirements for logistics operations at each venue and village
- Closely monitor and manage the Venue Logistics budget balancing LA28 operational and financial objectives
- Oversee the drafting, refining publishing, and distribution of the Delivering to Venues Guide
- Collaborate with Fuel team to confirm the placement of fuel dispensing units and develop systems for physically tracking on-venue / on-village fuel usage from internal functions and delivery partners, ensuring accountability and cost control
- Coordinate with LA28 functions and suppliers to develop and maintain an integrated supply chain that supports efficient logistics operations
- Initiate the framework for scheduling the delivery and removal of materials at venues and villages, ensuring seamless operations with minimal disruption and maximum efficiency
- Develop venue and village logistics operating plans, including the creation of departmental policies, procedures, staff orientation, and training programs
- Establish clear operating protocols with Security and third-party service providers to ensure coordinated efforts and secure operations
- Contribute to strategic planning initiatives minimizing waste and maximizing asset recovery through effective post-Games disposition strategies
- Foster workplace safety initiatives at venues, including the implementation of training programs, adherence to benchmark standards, ongoing safety monitoring, and prompt resolution of any identified hazards or unsafe practices
- Support and implement the Change Management Process for FFE allocation and resolve problems related to the orders of FF&E
Operations
- Oversee the coordination of Venue Logistics Managers (VLMs) with the Material Planning, and Warehousing & Distribution teams for the pre-bump-in exercises
- Monitor Venue and Village activities across all sites using command center tools and dashboard to proactively address operational trends and disruptions
- Lead incident response and resolution for logistics-related issues, providing timely updates to stakeholders and escalating as necessary
- Support the execution of contingency plans and emergency procedures, ensuring logistics operations adapt quickly to changes
- Participate in daily briefings, debriefings, and situation reports to communicate logistics status, risks, and recovery actions
Background & Qualifications:
- 8 years of progressive logistics, supply-chain, or venue operations leadership experience, in a previous
- Previous Venue Logistics management experience in a major event is strongly preferred - Olympic & Paralympic Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, European Games or FIFA FWC
- Proven management abilities overseeing workforce of 100+ staff members
- Competence to present and clearly communicate to audiences in a multitude of public / private settings, as required
- Track record of implementing robust health & safety and sustainable practices
- Willing to work on complex, tight, immovable timelines while maintaining a positive attitude, exhibiting patience, persistence and attention to detail
- Demonstrated success in independently developing effective processes and procedures from scratch, without reliance on existing models
- Experience working in a multi-cultural, multi-national environment
- Display a strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and drive continuous process involvement
- High attention to detail
Position Requirements:
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Expectation to work in LA28 offices in Los Angeles
- Primarily office-based with extended periods of sitting, working on a computer, and attending virtual or in-person meetings
- Occasional travel to various venues, warehouses, or vendor meetings may be required
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or relevant field preferred / Managerial certification
Expectations:
- Confident self-starter possessing excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills
- Team player with the ability to pivot / adapt, scale up and down planning principles to execution
- Collaborative, flexible approach with an ability to roll with the transitional nature of the organization as it grows and establishes itself over the next 3 - 4 years
- Progressive history of managing complex, multi-layered budgets
- Experience in drafting technical documents, policies and procedures
- Must be proficient with computers as well as Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook)
- Ability to make quick decisions, gather input from key stakeholders, advance the initiative forward, and drive flawless execution

The annual base salary range for this position is $150,000.00 - $170,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
