Sr. CAD Engineer, Design Studio
We are seeking a ‘Design Model Properties’-Senior CAD Engineer, with proven experience of having worked in an Automotive Design Model Making Environment to join our innovative team at Lucid Motors. Working within the Design Studio this role combines expertise in design engineering and advanced CAD skills to engineer physical model properties and Showcar Builds to support the design team.
Responsibilities:
· Work Collaboratively with mainstream engineering teams and the studio build teams to support CAD modelling of Aerobuck, Ergo buck, Clay Properties, Showcars and a variety of other required model properties.
· Create and refine complex 3D CAD models and assemblies using 3DExperience or CATIA V5, ensuring high-quality, manufacturable designs.
· Lead the CAD design, development, and build support of Design model properties.
· Optimize designs for quality, manufacture feasibility, and cost-effectiveness.
· Apply the Knowledge and techniques of concept vehicle build, material, manufacturing methods and CMF requirements
· Generate CAD Concepts which can be manufactured using the appropriate prototype techniques.
· Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including studio designers, vehicle engineers, and manufacturing specialists.
· Contribute to the development of engineering tools and processes to enhance design capabilities
· Support all engineered designs through the manufacturing lifecycle to model build.
Qualifications:
· 8+ years of experience in Automotive design Studio Environment using CATIA
· Expert-level proficiency in CATIA V5 or 3DExperience.
· Comprehensive knowledge of automotive layout and packaging, including Class A surfaces, aerodynamics, and integration with other vehicle systems
· Strong understanding of Pattern and Model making techniques, manufacturing processes used for Design Model builds.
· Proven track record of modelling design model properties and showcar builds in the automotive industry.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to create innovative engineering solutions.
· Effective communication and teamwork abilities
· Ability to think in a three-dimensional manner
Preferred Skills:
· Knowledge of advanced manufacturing techniques and emerging materials in automotive applications
· Experience having worked with Styling and Model board materials, carbon fibre, GRP, metals, plastics and 3D Print technologies.
· Familiarity with vehicle layout and body construction methods.
· A hands-on experience in patternmaking / model environment, or a good mechanical / electrical understanding.
· Mould tool designs for Carbon fiber and GRP components

Base Pay Range (Annual)
$151,000 - $212,100 USD
