Sol de Janeiro is looking for Manager, Area Sales and Education - UK to join the UK & Ireland Field Sales Team. Candidates will be responsible for building brand awareness, driving sales and delivering best-in-class customer experience across their designated areas. They will report directly to the Manager, National Sales and Education - UKI, and work closely with our retail partners to maximize consumer-facing initiatives and drive strategic in-store programs, events and education.   

This new role will report to the Manager, National Sales and Education - UKI.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

RETAIL SALES PERPORMANCE IN B&M:

  • Responsible for achieving agreed sales targets within designated areas, with business plans in top Flagship Doors aligned to national and locally relevant in-store activity.
  • Establish a focus door list based on sales goals and current performance monthly, be able to prioritize and independently manage journey planning within the area.  
  • Constantly evaluate area sales results and revise strategy based on successes and challenges.
  • Establish and develop strong relationships from store leadership to store-level employees.   
  • Develop seasonal marketing plans with retail partners in the area to achieve retail sales goals through local event opportunities, training and strategy meetings.
  • Take ownership for the success of the retailer beauty staff in-store, driving the team to achieve their KPIs through impactful and engaging educational touchpoints and business planning.
  • Work closely with the UKI head office team to give feedback on commercial opportunities in the field.
  • Evaluate stock levels for products when conducting store visits and communicate needs based on account specifications.  
  • Support and maintain visual merchandising updates and needs based on merchandising guidelines and retail planograms. 
  • Provide consistent feedback from store visits and training to help shape future decisions.
  • Responsible for strategic budget decisions and overall compliance. 

TRAINING AND EDUCATION:

  • Develop strong relationships with all store level leadership to identify and partner on training opportunities in the area.
  • Coach and develop staffing agency and retailer in-store teams to become brand experts and advocates. 
  • Have an innovative approach to identifying local opportunities to educate in-store teams, both in-person and remotely.
  • Confidently conduct training on new and existing products in both formalized education sessions and during on-the-spot coaching opportunities.
  • Lead by example during in-store selling and coaching days, demonstrating best-in-class customer experience. Be the embodiment of a brand advocate, championing the brand at every internal and external touchpoint.
  • Ability to create positive learning environments for both sales and retailer teams in person and through digital touchpoints
  • Foster an environment that encourages the open exchange of ideas and inspires those at point of sale. 
  • Lead from the front at retailers conferences and educational events, with the ability to confidently present on stage and to a large audience.
  • Able to support in the development and creation of digital education material such as videos and product cards.

EVENTING AND CONSUMER ACTIVATIONS:

  • Collaborate with the National Sales and Education Manager to identify & deliver eventing and experience opportunities across the UK and Ireland.
  • Identify whitespace opportunities for eventing and experience in the area’s flagship stores and cities.
  • Track and share insights, results and ROI from area activations.
  • Build strong relationships with agency partners to identify best in class teams, and deliver coaching and training to ensure exceptional customer experience.
  • Able to execute large scale sites, local events and area activations with excellence.
  • Adopt a ‘hands-on’ approach to eventing and activations, leading the way with consumer experience and operational standards.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders in Brand Marketing and VM to ensure all necessary event materials are prepared and available.

LEADERSHIP:

  • Experience as a hands-on leader who loves being on the sales floor to motivate, coach, and help teams succeed.
  • A natural storyteller with enhanced persuasive selling skills & an adept negotiator with proven examples of success.
  • Innovator with the ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to network and influence senior stakeholders, and clearly communicate recommendations concisely and persuasively.
  • Should have an energetic, positive, and service-oriented personality and be skilled at relationship-building.
  • Must be focused, show excellent attention to detail, and demonstrate an entrepreneurial approach to their work.
  • Has successfully identified, recruited, supervised, motivated and developed people. 
  • Should be passionate about skincare, body and fragrance products, and implementing brand education and training initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years’ experience in premium beauty in a managerial role with experience of sales and education.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working across different channels of premium beauty: Department Stores, Beauty Specialists, Boots & others.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and be able to easily commute within the area, and willing to travel out of the area for events or meetings. 
  • Should be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • This is a field based role, candidates should be comfortable to travel and able to spend 80% of time out in the field/in-store.

In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with the possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
