Manager, Analytics Engineer, London

This is a great opportunity to join the Digital Technology and Information Services (DTIS) group at PlayStation. We are looking for an experienced Analytics Engineering Manager to lead, shape and develop the Partner Data Insights team within the global Partners Data Engineering group.  We provide global data, reporting and analytics solutions for the PlayStation Partners Platform - a vital collection of applications and services used by our Partners worldwide to develop and publish games and content on PlayStation.

Based in our London office, you will lead the technical and strategic direction of the team as well as motivating, guiding and developing the team members supporting these efforts. The ideal candidate will have a track record of team leadership and developing enterprise-level business intelligence, visualisation and analytics solutions.

In this role you will be working closely with the LA based US sister team, as well as partnering with other global data engineering and analytics teams in the company.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and inspire a team of analytics engineers, collaborating closely with the LA-based sister team on delivery, standards, designs and architecture.
  • Work closely with Data Engineering to ensure cohesive and streamlined end-to-end solutions
  • Work with Product and Business stakeholders to assess business requirements and provide technical leadership to the team, guiding architecture, design and implementation, ensuring solutions are implemented to high standards
  • Own team outcomes, ensuring delivered solutions are stable, resilient and have appropriate monitoring and operational support
  • Drive team culture, including team and individual accountability and innovation
  • Iterate and drive solutions via rapid prototyping within the team and with stakeholders
  • Guide the development of team members, providing performance evaluations, development plans and constructive career development feedback to develop and maintain a highly motivated team
  • Participate in product roadmap development and identify key areas for innovation and improvement in our solutions and incorporate these into ongoing & future development initiatives
  • Lead the research and assessment of new products and technologies, leading and assessing PoCs for fitness, managing and planning their introduction.
  • Build and manage relationships with our product managers, customers, partners and vendors, ensuring high levels of support, service levels and collaboration
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work with diverse multinational teams and cultures

Skills and Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in enterprise business intelligence application design and development
  • 3+ years experience managing, leading and building data engineering/analytics teams
  • Expert product and technical experience delivering data products, visualisations and analytics on Business Intelligence solutions (e.g. DOMO, Tableau, MicroStrategy, Qlik, PowerBI, etc.).  Passion for turning complex data into UX focused, intuitive and performant visualisations.
  • 4+ years DOMO experience
  • Extensive experience with data warehousing systems for large enterprises using sophisticated data warehousing design and modelling techniques.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in ETL/ELT Techniques and tools (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks, Informatica, Ab Initio etc.)
  • Deep knowledge with at least one of the following database technologies and familiarity with the others: relational, columnar and NoSQL (i.e. Snowflake, Redshift, MySQL, Oracle, DynamoDB, MongoDB etc.)
  • Expert SQL
  • Strong Python for automation, data manipulation, shell scripting experience and creation of applications.
  • Experience with a wide variety of business data domains (Product Development, Marketing, Sales, Finance, Operations, etc.).
  • Deep understanding of software engineering processes, system development life cycles and Agile methodologies
  • Demonstrable experience in partnering with business and product teams to effectively deliver their goals and outcomes.
  • Must be self-motivated, responsive, professional and dedicated to customer success.
  • Outstanding organisational, presentation, and communication skills – both verbal and written.
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience

Desirable Experience

  • Delivering Self-Service data and reporting solutions
  • Experience with Snowflake
  • Experience working in web analytics or a related field.
  • Experience preparing datasets for AI/ML training
  • Business Process Mapping Experience and applying this to Data Analysis
  • Exposure to Data Science, Data Modelling and analytics methodologies and patterns 
  • Experience with statistical methodologies. 
  • Experience working with web technologies (JavaScript, Html, CSS), in particular with combining with Reporting/Analytics tools to create compelling user experiences
  • AWS development experience and certification
  • Product Owner experience.
