About this role:

We seek a Senior Creative Designer to join PlayStation's Brand Experience Design & Innovation (BXDI) team within Global Marketing. The BXDI team works to craft high-impact visual strategy and emotive storytelling for the PlayStation and Sony Interactive Entertainment brands across design, video, and experiential media. As a Senior Creative Designer, you will lead the design development and visual identity for innovative brand experiences (digital, physical, and interactive) for consumers and employees and oversee the creative shaping of our brand's future.

Work alongside artists, designers, producers, and editors to develop big ideas, high-impact moments for the PlayStation brand, and creative strategy that Global Marketing & PR, Product Development, Employee Teams, Sony Group, and partner agencies leverage directly and use as inspiration to bring our world-class creative to market.

This role will report to the Creative Director, Brand Experience Design & Innovation. The Senior Creative Designer role is a senior level, offering creative growth and career progression with opportunities to lead creative strategy, art direction, design execution, live productions, and experiential design and to advance your already seasoned skill set in creative ideation, art direction, and design execution. It will involve being responsible and accountable for essential initiatives for the PlayStation brand, independently and accountably managing creative projects, and strategically leading the art direction and design development of complex creative projects and designed experiences that showcase our brands.

What you’ll be doing:

Core responsibilities include leading the development of creative direction, visual expression, and visual communication for the PlayStation and SIE brands in ways that connect with consumers and employees in marketing, brand partnerships, and branded experiences.

  • Define, ideate and develop big, bold, and emotive visual design and creative strategies that resonate with consumers on behalf of partners across all divisions.
  • Champion world-class creative through your independent execution, creative leadership, and building constructive and collaborative relationships with peer designers and producers in BXDI and other internal creative teams and partner agencies.
  • Communicate for insight and impact by supporting the development of creative briefs that spark innovative thinking and delivering constructive and actionable feedback when working with partner teams and agencies.
  • Persuasively, respectfully, and enthusiastically pitch your ideas to leadership, partners, and peers.
  • Independently lead and manage creative projects, individually and in collaboration with video producers, including leading communication with partner teams, communicating challenges to leadership, and proactively seeking support when needed—with periodic backing from project management teams.
  • Work to develop and evolve design processes that ensure results, on-time, and on-budget delivery, and facilitate effective team collaboration.
  • Leverage your seasoned creative experience and strategic insight to provide peer mentorship to more junior staff and advance the whole team's creative prowess and design thinking expertise.
  • Contribute to SIE's culture by approaching all projects as an opportunity to lead with empathy, curiosity, passion, and design thinking to produce outcomes that bring success to our partners and the business.
  • Ensure that BXDI and our partner teams produce creative projects that are informed by and elevate PlayStation's Brand promise and tone of voice and live up to the team's creative ambitions and strategies.
  • Contribute to the development and education of relevant strategy and design documentation for PlayStation brand visual design and Brand Marketing strategy for an audience of SIE employees and partners working on behalf of SIE.

Your skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in visual design or equivalent degree in a related field.
  • 10+ years of technically sophisticated design experience across a range of media/formats and a demonstrated ability to apply these skills in ways that elevate brand excellence and resonate with audiences.
  • Applied experience in visual design development across digital, motion, and CGI and 3D design in a dynamic Marketing environment, working either in-house or agency-side, along with a track record of managing ambiguity, effective creative collaboration, and a portfolio showing creative execution on projects of all scales, budgets, and consumer reach to prove it.
  • Experienced with developing art direction for complex projects with diverse stakeholder and collaboration teams.
  • Experienced with managing relationships with internal and external partners, along with a proven track record of successful project outcomes and lasting partner relationships built from the strength of your interpersonal communication.
  • Proven track record of applying design thinking processes, including leading with empathy, defining challenges with curiosity, ideating across a broad range of possible creative outcomes, testing and seeking feedback on your ideas, and communicating your concepts persuasively.
  • Expert knowledge in design theory, including layout, color, typography, and hierarchy.
  • A love for design and art history and a drive to apply learnings from your historical knowledge to your creative work.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to current trends in graphic design, motion design, industrial design, experience design, art, photography, film, and new technologies.
  • A highly refined attention to detail, strong art working, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to articulate constructive and specific feedback to others and constructively receive, reflect upon, and act on feedback given to you.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and friendly, approachable demeanor.
  • Demonstrated ability to thoughtfully communicate design concepts in written materials from creative pitches through design specification guidelines.
  • Expertise using computer design applications including 3D software (Cinema 4D, Maya, Keyshot, Redshift/Octane), Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, etc.), Figma, Keynote, and other creative tools.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$145,000 - $217,600 USD
