The Sr. Director, Consumer Engagement, is a key strategic role at Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), responsible for working across the PlayStation portfolio to deliver player engagement and revenue by leading and transforming the integrated lifecycle & content marketing team that is directly responsible for content creation, channel management and contact strategy across PlayStation’s owned channels (Web, Email, Mobile, and on-console).

This collaborative and inspiring leader will be a key partner to PlayStation’s product marketing, vertical marketing, and product teams, and work closely with SIE’s e-commerce marketing team to deliver D2C business outcomes. Reporting to the global Vice President of Growth, Media, and Omnichannel Marketing, this individual will be responsible for a constantly evolving team in various global offices across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Together, we are on a mission to redefine owned channel marketing and its relationship to company growth and player engagement.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lifecycle Marketing & Consumer Engagement Marketing (Global Strategy, Planning & Delivery)

  • Lead global lifecycle and content marketing strategy across brands and services, in partnership with business & marketing verticals and regional teams.
  • Drive unified, customer-centric content programs across owned channels that support engagement, monetization, retention, player success & online safety goals.
  • Scale new initiatives and optimize program portfolio to improve campaign performance and maximize ROI.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of CRM and customer engagement landscape and evolutions, seek and understand emerging trends, provide ongoing education to the marketing organization. 

 

Content Marketing, Editorial, SEO & Generative Search Optimization

  • Lead and develop a team of editors, web producers, and content marketers in delivering high-impact content aligned with brand, player, and business priorities.
  • Set and manage organic growth goals, leveraging SEO and generative search strategies to drive revenue and engagement.
  • Oversee content programs supporting PlayStation products, services, and third-party software. 

 

Leadership & Operational Excellence

·       Establish best practices and operational models through a Center of Excellence for lifecycle marketing, PlayStation.com editorial content, and platform engagement.

  • Build and scale global planning, execution, and measurement frameworks to support business-wide marketing operations.
  • Foster a test-and-learn culture and partner with analytics teams to deliver insights and demonstrate impact.
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing, Engineering, and cross-functional content teams to ensure marketing requirements shape platform & marketing technology roadmap; lead effort to ensure business and operational needs are translated to requirements.

 

Organizational Influence & Talent Development

  • Inspire and lead the Customer Engagement team, focusing on team transformation, cohesion, career development, and executional excellence.
  • Contribute to the broader Growth and Omnichannel Marketing leadership team, driving SIE’s growth marketing transformation and supporting a culture of innovation, accountability, and cross-functional success.
  • Influence enterprise-wide content planning by partnering with internal stakeholders across PR Comms, Store, and Customer Support editorial functions.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor degree in Marketing, Communications/ Advertising / Media Studies, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 18+ years’ experience in D2C marketing, customer lifecycle management, engagement marketing.
  • Proven experience in leading large-scale functional transformations (with CRM and/or content operations focus) and building organization-wide programs with global impact, and the ability to work empathetically across regions
  • Video Game and/or other entertainment marketing experience preferred, but not necessary. 
  • 10+ years of management experience and demonstrated team leadership; strong analytical and budgeting capabilities.
  • Insights-led expert on all aspects of the owned channel space & CRM landscape (web, email, social, SMS, on-platform messaging, etc.), with ability to think creatively and strategically.
  • Clear perspective on omnichannel measurement.
  • Thorough understanding of traditional SEO and the role of content marketing plays in organic discovery, as well as an informed opinion on the impact of AI-powered search engines, LLMs, and agentic systems.
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects in a dynamic, deadline driven environment. 
  • Advanced communication and negotiation skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the expertise and professionalism that will earn respect and trust with internal team members and external vendors.
  • Inspiring leader that has the proven ability to lead and develop a globally distributed team.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$268,100 - $402,100 USD
