Software Development Engineer in Test II (SDET II Contractor)

Summary
Would you like to help ensure the quality and reliability of PlayStation media experiences?

Join the Quality Engineering (QE) team supporting PlayStation client software — where your testing work directly shapes performance, stability, and the overall user experience across media features.

We’re looking for a curious and detail-oriented tester with strong Python skills and an understanding of how API behavior affects client functionality. You’ll use existing frameworks to automate UI and API tests, partner closely with developers, and help create smooth, consistent experiences for users.

We work closely across teams to build confidence in every release, and we’re excited to bring on a tester who’s passionate about quality and eager to make an impact!

As an SDET II Contractor, you’ll take ownership of automation and validation for assigned features, apply a quality-first mindset, and contribute to continuous improvement across the team.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain automated UI and API tests in Python using tools like pytest and Jenkins

  • Test how backend and API changes affect client functionality and user experience

  • Review developer pull requests to spot potential client issues early

  • Troubleshoot Jenkins jobs and help keep test suites stable and reliable

  • Share results, document insights, and collaborate with leads and developers to keep testing practical and effective

In this role, you’ll focus on building confidence through solid test coverage and thoughtful validation — helping the team find issues faster and improve quality across every release.

Qualifications

  • Skilled in Python 3.11 with hands-on automation experience using pytest 7 or newer

  • Experience with UI automation using Appium 2 (preferred) or Selenium 4

  • Strong background in API testing with Python tools such as requests, pytest, or Postman

  • Comfortable using Jenkins, including creating and troubleshooting jobs and pipelines

  • Proficient with Git for version control and collaborative workflows

  • Familiar with test management tools such as qTest or TestRail and Agile development processes

Nice to Have

  • Background testing media playback, navigation, or other client-facing user experiences

  • Knowledge of front-end quality practices like accessibility or visual regression validation

  • Curiosity about PlayStation applications and how customers interact with them
