We are looking for an experienced and visionary Director of Production and Client Partnerships to lead the development and delivery of our business unit that supports our sales team and services our clients. This role must be exceptional at facilitating strong relationships with our local sales teams and clients. This role will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of commercial production, ensuring projects meet client expectations, sponsorships, sports initiatives, sponsored content with high quality standards.

Additionally, you will play a key role in developing strategic partnerships, driving business growth, and ensuring long-term client satisfaction. The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver, a strong leader, and a skilled relationship builder with deep experience in video production and client management. This role will be integral to the centralized marketing function and a partner to the sales leadership team.

This position can sit at any TEGNA station location.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership of Video Production: Oversee the entire video production process, from pre-production to post-production, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality content that aligns with client objectives for commercial production.
  • Project Oversight: Manage multiple video production projects simultaneously, coordinating with internal teams (creative, production, post-production) to ensure on-time delivery, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Creative Strategy: Collaborate with sales teams and internal creative teams to develop innovative, impactful video content strategies that resonate with target audiences and meet client marketing objectives.
  • Business Development & Partnerships: Identify and develop new business opportunities with both existing and potential clients. Build and maintain long-term relationships that drive revenue growth and brand loyalty.
  • Budgeting & Resource Management: Manage production budgets, negotiating costs and allocating resources to maximize efficiency while maintaining creative quality.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of video producers, directors, editors, and project managers, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Client Presentations & Pitches: Partner with sales leadership to support client presentations and pitches for new video projects and strategic partnerships, showcasing creative solutions and demonstrating the value of the company’s video production services.
  • Performance & Analytics: Oversee the measurement of video content performance, leveraging insights and analytics to continuously improve client satisfaction and refine production strategies.
  • Trend Analysis & Innovation: Stay on top of industry trends and emerging video technologies to ensure the company remains competitive and bring innovative approaches to both production and client engagement.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Film, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in video production, with a strong background in client-facing roles, project management, and business development.
  • Proven track record of managing complex video production projects from concept to completion, with a deep understanding of production workflows and timelines.
  • Experience building and maintaining client relationships, with a focus on understanding client needs and delivering exceptional service.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and guide cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey creative ideas and production details clearly to clients and internal teams.
  • Experience in managing budgets, timelines, and resources for large-scale video productions.
  • Proficiency in video production software and tools, including video editing platforms (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro), and familiarity with production equipment.
  • Experience in developing strategic client partnerships that drive long-term business growth.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in securing new business opportunities.
  • Knowledge of emerging video trends and technologies, such as AI, VR, AR, or live streaming.

 

This position is eligible for the Company's bonus plan(s).

Pay Range

$150,000 - $175,000 USD

Our 401(k) program offers full, part-time and temporary employees the opportunity to contribute 1% - 80% of their pay on a pre-tax basis to TEGNA’s 401(k). Contributions made up to the first 4% of pay are eligible for a 100% match from the company and are 100% vested from day one.

Regardless of participation in TEGNA medical plans, ALL employees and their eligible family members receive nine free virtual doctor’s appointments with a physician through Teladoc, and 12 free annual therapy sessions with a licensed clinician through Spring Health.

TEGNA offers a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) benefit as well as nine paid holidays per year.
