We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Sponsorship Manager to lead and drive our sponsorship initiatives across the TEGNA portfolio. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing strategic partnerships with brands and organizations to secure sponsorships that align with our company’s goals and enhance our events, programs, and content offerings. The ideal candidate will have strong relationship-building skills, a proven track record in securing sponsorships, and the ability to create value-driven partnerships that deliver measurable results.

This position can sit at any TEGNA station location, but preference will be made for the following locations:

  • WFAA – Dallas, TX
  • KUSA/KTVD – Denver, CO
  • WTHR – Indianapolis, IN
  • WCNC – Charlotte, NC

Responsibilities:

  • Sponsorship Strategy Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive sponsorship strategy to identify and target potential sponsors with sales leadership that align with the company’s brand, events, and initiatives.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with sponsors, ensuring they are engaged and receive value from their partnerships. Act as the main point of contact for all sponsor-related inquiries.
  • Proposal Development: Create tailored sponsorship packages, presentations, and proposals that clearly outline partnership opportunities, deliverables, and the value proposition for potential sponsors at scale.
  • Oversee sponsored content and contesting strategy: work to identify opportunities at scale to drive sponsored content and contesting strategy for TEGNA portfolio.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, community, content, and sales teams to integrate sponsorships into company initiatives and ensure successful activation of sponsor deliverables.
  • Sponsor Activation & Execution: Oversee the successful execution of sponsorship agreements, ensuring that all deliverables are met, and sponsors receive the promised value from their partnerships. This includes managing branding opportunities, on-site activation at events, digital presence, and more.
  • Market Research: Conduct market research to identify sponsorship trends and opportunities, staying up-to-date on industry developments to inform sponsorship strategies.
  • Budget & Performance Management: Manage sponsorship revenue goals and budgets, tracking performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of sponsorship deals and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Provide sponsors with post-event or post-campaign reports detailing key performance metrics and ROI, ensuring transparency and building long-term relationships based on trust and results.
  • Contract Negotiation: Handle contract negotiations, ensuring agreements are mutually beneficial and legally sound, while protecting the company’s interests.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in sponsorship management, partnership development, or sales with a proven track record of securing high-value sponsorships.
  • Strong understanding of sponsorship trends and the ability to develop creative, value-driven partnership opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in closing sponsorship deals.
  • Ability to manage multiple sponsorship deals simultaneously, balancing priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience in managing sponsorship deliverables and executing sponsor activations at live events or within digital environments.
  • Proficiency with CRM tools and sponsorship tracking systems to manage and report on sponsor activity.
  • Experience in event marketing or large-scale event sponsorship is a plus.
  • Familiarity with digital media sponsorship and integrated marketing partnerships.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess sponsorship ROI and campaign effectiveness.

Pay Range

$100,000 - $125,000 USD

Our 401(k) program offers full, part-time and temporary employees the opportunity to contribute 1% - 80% of their pay on a pre-tax basis to TEGNA’s 401(k). Contributions made up to the first 4% of pay are eligible for a 100% match from the company and are 100% vested from day one.

Regardless of participation in TEGNA medical plans, ALL employees and their eligible family members receive nine free virtual doctor’s appointments with a physician through Teladoc, and 12 free annual therapy sessions with a licensed clinician through Spring Health.

TEGNA offers a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) benefit as well as nine paid holidays per year.
