Data Scientist

The Swift Group is looking for a Data Scientist to identify new, and assess external requirements for analytic support, and determine an appropriate course of action to support said requirements for our clients consideration. This includes the work required to identify the data needed, document the methodology used to perform analysis, document results, and make determinations on classifications and handling restrictions of resulting product(s). This position is located in Tysons, VA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write ad-hoc code on very short timeline to address new circumstances
  • Sustain and with approval, evolve systems and capabilities that compromise the data collection program
  • Support downstream systems and capabilities dependent on the clients data collection program via various approaches, to include application programming interfaces (APIs)
  • Deliver new methodologies, solutions, capabilities, and products to derive more and accurate value from data
  • Meet compliance requirements (e.g. legal, policy, INFOSEC) for processing, accessing, querying and reporting findings from data
  • Evaluate data collections to assess the potential value-add to the  data collection program to recommend to the client
  • Generate assessments about data, support activities to perform data acquisition, and enable the processing of data so it is integrated into data collection systems for maximum value
  • Sustain, evolve the data models that compromise the client’s data collection and downstream systems and capabilities dependent on the clients data collection
  • Perform data modeling for integration of new data into the client's data collection programs data corpus, refining existing models to address deficiencies and defects, and creating new models to support existing and new analytic methodologies
  • Support forward deployment requirements, whereby personnel are embedded in other departments or other elements within the larger organization
  • This includes physically sitting and functioning autonomously with those departments or elements, developing a more complete and timely understanding of the challenges and requirements, and leveraging data collection capabilities to directly support those requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience developing, running, and analyzing results of complex queries against data stores and data processing environment(s).
  • Demonstrated experience manipulating structured and unstructured data to perform analysis and generate reporting and products.
  • Demonstrated experience using analytic techniques and tools to perform analytic support.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and using data processing technologies such as Python, SQL, ECL, MongoDB, Jenkins, PyPi, Terraform, Cloudera, and ElasticSearch to perform data processing.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, validating, and using methodologies to support analytic requirements in Clustered Computing environments
  • HS Diploma
  • US citizenship with an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience using Enterprise Control Language (ECL) and the Lexis-Nexis High Performance Cluster Computing (HPCC) platform
  • BA/BS Degree

Pay Range: $49,996.80 - $290,004.00

Pay ranges are a general guideline and not intended as a guaranteed and/or implied final compensation or salary for this job opening. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several different factors including, but not limited to: level of position, complexity of job responsibilities, geographic location, work experience, education, certifications, Federal Government contract labor categories, and contract wage rates.
