A Snapshot

As the Senior Commercial Manager, Development – Singapore, Malaysia, Japan you will report to the Construction Commercial Director, and work closely with the rest of the Development team, making your mark in a number of ways:

  • You will act as the commercial business partner, providing leadership, guidance, and advice to support the delivery teams in all aspects of commercial and contract issues across the entire lifecycle of our data centre developments
  • You will negotiate contracts at the highest levels of the business, both domestically and internationally, including the development and management of all contractual documentation
  • Lead development reporting for your region, ensuring a high level of governance and accuracy to stakeholders
  • Manage the growth and development of a team of contracts professionals across the region.

 

Your Day to Day

  • Provide risk and governance oversight across the Singapore, Malaysia and Japan regions through contracts, cost and claims leadership, providing trusted commercial advice to the Development and Project Directors
  • Support senior management team with procurement and contract strategies for existing and new regions across Singapore, Malaysia and Japan
  • Lead the contracts team across the region as the first point of escalation for all day-to-day matters for in-flight projects
  • Resolve complex contract interpretation issues and disputes in a creative manner, balancing both parties’ objectives and the long-term implications of changes or solutions
  • Implement and develop effective and streamlined processes and procedures, considering regional nuances; develop metrics quantifying performance across all projects
  • Lead commercial lessons learned, innovations, initiatives and continuous improvements aimed at increasing time and costs efficiencies of the delivery of our data centres
  • Develop complex business cases and analysis on procurement/ new market entry / claims resolution to senior management
  • Develop and review tender packages including developing scope of works, bid templates, tender evaluations, reviews, and recommendations
  • Concurrently manage multiple projects including new data centre buildings and capital improvement projects associated with existing data centres
  • Travel to data centre sites both domestic and internationally for project initiation, project reviews and audits, constructability reviews, commissioning, project close out, and the like as required.

 

Requirements

Required:

  • A relevant degree such as Law, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Engineering (or similar) with a minimum of 12 years work experience in the construction industry
  • Strong understanding of contract management and administration with a sound understanding of contract law
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, contract drafting and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated success in directing and influencing multi‐disciplinary teams, consultants, and contractors to deliver high quality outcomes
  • Demonstrable leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and exposure to online collaboration tools
  • Excellent communication skills in English and have an attention to detail and be able to maintain high quality standards

Preferred:

  • 5 years’ experience in a commercial leadership role
  • Demonstrated experience in building and managing a high performing team
  • Experience and/or understanding of fast track design/build projects
  • Has international experience (ideally APAC) with significant exposure to Contracts +SGD$150m
