
Senior/Lead IT Storage Engineer

Purpose
The IT Storage Engineer role exists to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of the organization’s storage infrastructure, including SAN/NAS systems and cloud storage solutions, while serving as the primary Disaster Recovery (DR) Engineer to design and maintain robust DR strategies for critical systems, enabling business continuity and data protection.
The Role
- Administer and maintain SAN/NAS systems, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot storage arrays, implementing provisioning, tiering, and data deduplication/compression.
- Manage cloud storage solutions (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, Google Cloud Storage) for secure, cost-effective data storage and hybrid integration.
- Perform data analytics for storage utilization, capacity planning, and forecasting to support strategic business objectives.
- Design, implement, and test disaster recovery plans for VMware, Office 365, Jira, Oracle, and Fabric environments to ensure minimal downtime.
- Maintain and update DR documentation, including recovery procedures, runbooks, and failover/failback processes.
- Conduct regular DR testing and simulations to validate recovery capabilities.
- Monitor storage and DR systems for performance, availability, and security, providing Tier 3 support for incidents.
- Collaborate with IT teams to support virtualization, databases, and infrastructure, while staying updated on emerging technologies.
Basic Qualifications
- Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in IT storage management, including SAN/NAS administration.
- Expertise in cloud storage solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Strong knowledge of VMware virtualization, Office 365, Jira, Oracle databases, and Fabric infrastructure.
- Experience designing and implementing disaster recovery solutions for enterprise environments.
- Proficiency in data analytics for storage utilization and capacity planning.
- Familiarity with backup and recovery tools (e.g., Veeam, Commvault).
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work under pressure during critical incidents.
- Physical demands: Ability to sit for extended periods, use computer equipment, and occasionally lift/move hardware up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as VMware VCP, Microsoft 365 Certified, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
- Experience with storage protocols (e.g., iSCSI, NFS, SMB) and hardware (e.g., Dell EMC, NetApp, HPE).
- Knowledge of scripting/automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for storage and DR tasks.
- Understanding of cybersecurity best practices for data protection and compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
- Full-time position with occasional on-call responsibilities for storage and DR support. Hybrid or on-site work, depending on organizational needs.

Compensation
At Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job. For this role, we will consider candidates at levels Senior - Lead as evaluated through our interview process.
- Senior IT Storage Engineer / E05: $122,400 - $168,300
- Lead IT Storage Engineer / E06: $141,400 - $194,400
