Associate, Competition Management
The Associate, Competition Management will play a critical role within the LA28 Sport team, reporting to the Head of Competition Management and supporting the deliverables, operations and services of the Competition Management sub-function. This role will work within the Competition Management team to support the progression of function planning deliverables and collaborating with other LA28 Functions as needed. Projects supported by this role will include International Federation Visits, Sport Delivery Plans and sport delivery milestones.
The role will be expected to collaborate within the Sport department as well as other LA28 functions within Games Delivery and Services/Logistics (i.e. Accommodations, Accreditation, Transportation, Logistics, etc.), and across the organization (including but not limited to Workforce, Central Planning, PMO, Finance, Risk).
Key Responsibilities:
Competition Management
- Support the day-to-day work of Sport Managers and their respective teams.
- Coordinate International Federation visits to Los Angeles including venue visit requests, itineraries and scheduling.
- Support documentation of milestones and deadlines including creation of presentations, spreadsheets and notes.
- Communicate across functions and sport teams representing the Head of Competitions.
- Validate and update key sport information within the LA28 Data Warehouse and other source of truth documents.
- Assist with cross-functional projects to assist with the integration with Sport Managers.
- Manage the global Competition Management calendar with direction from Sport Managers.
Administration
- Support the day-to-day work of the Head of Competition Management.
- Produce documentation including meeting notes, agendas and tracking documents.
- Support and track updates to Sport’s master schedule and milestones
- Coordinate Sport updates, presentations and reports to be used internally and externally to communicate progress and issues within the Sport department
- Manage the reporting cycle across all sport managers with direction from managers
- Support the use and updating of Sport Delivery Plans (SDPs) in collaboration with Sport Managers
- Coordinate Sport Manager input into Games-time IF Services plans for technical officials, including accommodation, transport, air travel, uniforming and other services
- Track and map out expenses across Sport Managers for Observation Travel, IF visit and Consultant contracts.
- Support and track updates to Sport Manager and Competition Management master schedule and milestones
- Organize the Competition Management meeting cadences, managing the team calendar and project updates.
- Manage and support Sport Manager’s SharePoint site coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide team support for the administration of legal and finance documents
Background & Qualifications:
- 2+ years’ experience in administration and project management, ideally in the sport’s industry
- Experience working cross-functionally on project administration
- Extremely detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Well-developed problem-solving skills and ability to work independently to resolve issues
- Fluent working with Office suite products including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Self-starter with experience in defining tasks, seeking feedback, and evolving work
- Required proven ability of building good interpersonal relationships with people across the organization, while balancing assertiveness with diplomacy
- Ability to implement and manage change effectively
- Demonstrated commitment to co-creation and collaborative decision-making
Position Requirements:
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- The position is in Los Angeles with in-person attendance required.
- Some travel
- The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.
- The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.

The annual base salary range for this position is $30.20 - $35.00/hour. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
