Sol de Janeiro is seeking an Assistant Manager, Global & Americas Public Relations. This role supports the Director, Global & Americas Public Relations, in strategically aligning and executing public relations activities across global initiatives and the Americas region. The Assistant Manager will play a key role in enhancing the brand's visibility and reputation, coordinating communication efforts, and supporting the brand's business objectives.

*This role is based in the US, preferably in the NY area. The role is a hybrid role, with 3 days required in office. This role will report to the Director, PR & Influencer Marketing.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and execution of a cohesive global public relations strategy, ensuring that global initiatives are effectively adapted and implemented across the Americas region.
  • Provide timely updates, guidelines, and frameworks to regional teams to ensure alignment with the global strategy.

Assist with PR Campaigns & Product Launches:

  • Collaborate with the Director to develop and implement innovative PR strategies for new product launches, tailoring these strategies to highlight the product's unique features and market position.
  • Support the creation of compelling narratives that capture media attention and consumer interest.

Press Events & Activations:

  • Assist in organizing intimate press events and activations that effectively communicate product key messages and differentiation.
  • Help create and distribute comprehensive toolkits for regional teams to ensure the consistent execution of press events that reinforce the brand's positioning.

Regional Adaptation of Global Initiatives:

  • Support the adaptation of global PR initiatives for the Americas, ensuring that communications are culturally relevant and resonate with local audiences.
  • Coordinate with regional teams to ensure seamless execution of these initiatives.

Reputation Management:

  • Assist in monitoring and managing the brand’s reputation both globally and regionally, including maintaining accuracy and positive representation on platforms like Wikipedia and other significant online profiles.

Media & Industry Relationships:

  • Help to nurture and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and PR agencies across both global and Americas regions, ensuring consistent and positive coverage.
  • Assist in efforts to build and maintain relationships that enhance the brand’s reputation and influence within the industry, including active participation with organizations like the Fragrance Foundation and Cosmetic Executive Women.

Support for Executive PR Activities:

  • Provide support in managing the CEO’s public profile and participation in business and leadership press and events.
  • Assist in coordinating executive interviews, preparing briefing documents, and ensuring consistent communication of the brand's key messages.

Support for CSR Initiatives:

  • Work with the Sol de Janeiro Foundation to support coverage of the company's sustainability and CSR initiatives.
  • Coordinate with the ESG team to amplify the brand's commitment to social and environmental responsibility through strategic media outreach.

Integration with Business Goals:

  • Ensure that PR strategies are aligned with global strategies and integrated with broader business goals including marketing, sales, and product strategies.

Data Monitoring & Analysis:

  • Assist in monitoring and analyzing PR results and industry trends to continually refine strategies and tactics.
  • Use data-driven insights to support the continuous improvement of PR strategies and activities.

Event Coordination & Budget Management:

  • Support the planning and organization of desk sides, interviews, and press events.
  • Assist in managing the PR budget for global and regional activities, ensuring effective allocation of resources for maximum impact.

Crisis Management Support:

  • Assist in supporting crisis management efforts by helping to develop and implement communication plans to mitigate potential negative impacts on the brand.

Collaboration Across Functions:

  • Work closely with the General Manager, Americas, and other cross-functional teams to ensure consistent strategy and reporting across all marketing and communications activities within the region.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in public relations, with experience in both global and regional PR campaigns within beauty, consumer goods or related industries.
  • Familiarity with the beauty, lifestyle, or consumer goods sectors is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to help craft and convey clear, persuasive messages to diverse audiences.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions and with executives at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in digital communication tools and social media platforms for PR purposes.

Salary Range

$70,000 - $80,000 USD

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with the possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
