As the Director, Global Product Marketing - Fragrance you will oversee the execution of product marketing initiatives for our Perfume Mists and craft the strategic vision that will propel our brand to new heights. In this pivotal role, you will blend strategic foresight, innovative leadership, and operational acumen to ensure our products not only meet consumer needs but also embody and advance our celebrated brand ethos. Sol de Janeiro is a leader in fragrance, where we have shown dominance with our beloved Perfume Mists. This is your opportunity to contribute to the future of these category-defining Perfume Mists, enhancing its market share and influencing beauty trends worldwide.  

                               

The position will report to the VP, Global Product Marketing and will manage a team of three people.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Strategically manage and continually refine the 3-year rolling product launch calendar, focusing on core and limited edition Perfume Mists to drive category growth, recruit new consumers, and retain existing ones.
  • Deliver exciting and breakthrough innovation concepts that drive growth based on a combination of gap analysis, ability to drive buzz, consumer-focused insights and data, trend and market reports and inspiration.
  • Work with Executive Director to manage cost and margin targets to meet financial objectives of the brand and category, assisting in setting COG & margin targets by category and adjusting MOB targets to reach gross margin targets.
  • Develop and manage the rolling product launch calendar, coordinating with Product Development, Packaging, and other cross-functional teams to ensure timely and impactful product introductions. Oversee the process from concept to market launch, ensuring that products fulfill consumer expectations and brand standards.
  • Lead and inspire a team of three marketing professionals, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and developmental growth. Ensure that all team members are aligned with the category’s goals and fully equipped to execute their roles effectively. Steward a strong and clear briefing and feedback process across your team.
  • Represent your innovation in strategic meetings with senior management and external partners, advocating for the program’s needs and strategic direction.
  • Collaborate with Global Consumer Engagement and Creative teams to design and implement omnichannel go-to-market strategies that ensure cohesive brand messaging and optimize customer journey across all touchpoints.
  • Work closely with regional commercial teams to ensure that global launches serve local market needs and consumer preferences, ensuring global brand consistency and local relevancy.
  • Utilize data and analytics to identify fast-growing subcategories and trends, enhancing market share through well-informed strategies and actions.
  • Champion sustainability initiatives within the product lifecycle, from ingredient sourcing to packaging, ensuring that all products adhere to the highest environmental and ethical standards.
  • Drive ongoing analysis of category and SKU productivity resulting in recommendations for SKU resupport, pivots, or discontinuation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required, MBA preferred.
  • 8+ years of current experience in global marketing in the beauty sector experience in the fragrance category.
  • Potent blend of strategic, creative, and analytic skills.
  • Ownership mindset for programs and categories.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail & organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with positive attitude and ability to build and nurture strong relationships.
  • Strong managerial experience, directing & developing direct reports.
  • Must be comfortable working a hybrid schedule (1-3 days per week in our NYC Office).

Salary Range

$160,000 - $180,000 USD

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with the possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
