Art Supervisor

Sony Bend Studio, renowned creator of Days Gone, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, and Syphon Filter, is seeking outstanding talent to join our passionate and creative family in crafting our next high-profile AAA console title.

We are looking for an Art Department Supervisor to partner with the Art Directors, Art Leads, and other department managers to accommodate staffing needs, recruiting, individual performance, mentoring, and career growth and planning.  In this role you will help to mentor, retain, and develop some of the top artistic talent in the industry. You’ll also play an important role in creating and maintaining a vibrant and innovative creative culture, and in helping guide the Art team on a path of continual growth and development.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate and retain top-tier talent to support the growth of the Bend Studio art department.
  • Provide career development and growth opportunities for artists, offering mentoring and guidance on soft skills, and leveraging sub-discipline experts within the team to enhance technical and artistic skills, as well as the fostering of an agile development mindset.
  • Write and deliver regular performance appraisals and facilitate regular performance conversations with other department leads and senior art staff.
  • Participate in the hiring process for artists, collaborating with recruiters on screening qualified candidates, and joining team interviews to identify the strongest potential candidates.
  • Collaborate with the Management team, Production team, and other studio leaders to ensure a consistent, transparent, and effective development process across disciplines.
  • Contribute to studio planning regarding personnel issues, headcount planning, leveraging co development and outsourcing to augment the team, and other needs as required.
  • Foster a positive work environment and studio culture, promoting collaboration and seeking resolutions to both intra and inter-team dynamics and conflicts.
  • Plan for the best and most efficient deployment of art resources, closely collaborating with Leads and Producers to meet project needs and support the team's development requirements.

Requirements

  • B.A degree in Fine and Applied Arts or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of game industry experience.
  • 10+ years of art experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a management role.
  • Internal development team experience.
  • Experience on a full AAA development cycle.
  • Experience with staffing and team building.
  • Knowledge of various project management methodologies, scheduling, and practices.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$102,300 - $153,500 USD
