Business Continuity and Emergency Preparedness Senior Manager

CA - Remote, West Coast - Remote

Role Description:  

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is seeking a collaborative and experienced business continuity and emergency preparedness leader. This position reports directly to the Senior Director, Corporate Security & Crisis Management. The Business Continuity and Emergency Preparedness Senior Manager will collaborate with department directors and the executive team to develop and implement plans to anticipate, address, and mitigate the effects of various business interruptions as well as improve preparedness and resilience across the enterprise. SIE’s Emergency Preparedness & Crisis Response Team, operating under the Corporate Security umbrella, is responsible for improving emergency preparedness and crisis response globally for all SIE sites and provides daily coordination among departments and teams to reduce risk, enhance business continuity, and ensure the safety of SIE personnel.  

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Be accountable and responsible for the support and delivery of all crises, business continuity and emergency management programs 

  • Lead global business impact analysis (BIA) and risk assessment exercises and conduct an analysis to understand the risk trends or patterns and be able to suggest strategies to mitigate those risks 

  • Analyze and understand IT gaps on essential business functions or information systems to identify acceptable recovery time periods and resource requirements 

  • Identify opportunities for strategic improvement or mitigation of business interruption and other risks caused by business, regulatory, or industry-specific change initiatives 

  • Create, review or update existing business continuity and crisis management plans 

  • Work collaboratively with IT to support disaster recovery planning and programs 

  • Maintain and update business continuity plans for recovery decision making and communications, continuity of critical departmental processes, or temporary shut-down of non-critical departments to ensure continuity of operation and governance 

  • Maintain training and awareness by conducting at minimum, annual tests of key plans to ensure adherence to standards and plans, and to confirm stakeholders’ ability in executing on a plan as needed 

  • Write and track reports to summarize testing and recommended remediations activities, including descriptions of goals, planning, scheduling, execution, results, analysis, conclusions, and status of recommendations 

  • Build cross-functional relationships to successfully get others to buy-in and support of the business continuity program and crisis management program 

  • Act as a coordinator for continuity efforts after a disruption event. 

  • Assist with audit preparation/interviews and RFP requests 

  • Continuous Improvement:  Ensure an effective lesson learned process is placed to capture improvements identified during exercises and actual crisis response and business continuity plan execution 

Qualifications:  
• 10+ years of management experience with at least six years in risk management, business continuity, crisis management, or emergency preparedness position required.  
• Detailed understanding of risk management and emergency preparedness.  
• Excellent strategic, problem solving, and analytical skills.  
• Ability to think through hypothetical situations and concepts and to identify risks and weaknesses in various business processes.  
• Ability to collaborate with others to develop a business continuity and crisis management plan.  
• Excellent communication skills.  
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, project planning tools, or related software. 
One or more certifications in Business Continuity from DRI International, Business Continuity Institute or equivalent or other relevant certifications 
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business administration, public administration, finance, or environmental health and safety; Master's degree desirable 

 

Nice to haves: 

  • Experience implementing one or more of the following frameworks, standards or regulatory bodies: ISO 22301 

  • Experience with implementing a business continuity and crisis management program for a mutli-national corporation

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$164,500 - $246,700 USD
