Lead Analyst, Digital Analytics & Monetization

San Mateo, CA (Hybrid) / Remote

At PlayStation, our mission is to empower the global gaming community with data-driven insights and strategies that drive player engagement, partner success, and growth. The Digital Analytics & Monetization Group (DAMG), within the Strategic Analytics team, plays a critical role in delivering game-centric analytics to external partners and internal stakeholders within Global Account Management, Global Partner Marketing, and Digital Game Sales.

We’re looking for a Lead Analyst to join our team—an experienced professional who thrives on solving complex challenges, mentoring others, and delivering impactful analysis. This role blends deep technical expertise, strong storytelling, and leadership to drive value for partners and support internal decision-making. A deep appreciation for gaming and in-depth industry knowledge is a must for this role.

What you'll be doing

  • Translate business questions into actionable analyses and create clear, impactful deliverables that inform data-driven decisions for stakeholders.
  • Develop a deep understanding of player behavior, in-game systems, and performance indicators to provide insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Present the results of analyses directly to partners—virtually and in person—delivering actionable recommendations to support their goals.
  • Continuously explore new data sources, methodologies, and tools to enhance the quality and impact of insights delivered.
  • Drive innovation and resolve bottlenecks in analytics processes, focusing on automation, query optimization, data accuracy, and enhancing visualization methods.
  • Provide mentorship and support to analysts by sharing expertise, fostering growth, and promoting best practices to elevate the team’s analytical capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align analytical outputs with business objectives and partner needs.

Types of analysis might include

  • Forecast benchmarks for engagement, retention, and monetization to support the launch strategy for upcoming live service titles.
  • Conduct cohort analyses to measure the effectiveness of a store promotion in acquiring new users, assessing their retention, monetization behavior, and long-term value to the franchise.
  • Measure the impact of game subscription offerings on other revenue streams, such as microtransaction spending.
  • Assess audience overlap between titles or genres to size potential audiences and identify risks, such as competing release windows.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Business, Economics, or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in analytics, business intelligence, or data science, ideally within the gaming, entertainment, or technology industries, with prior experience in a team lead or senior-level role strongly preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or R for data manipulation, statistical analysis, and delivering impactful ad hoc analytics.
  • Strong communicator with exceptional written and verbal skills, able to present findings to technical and non-technical audiences effectively.
  • A proactive and self-motivated problem solver, capable of adapting to a dynamic environment and addressing diverse analytics topics with focus and precision.
  • As the role sits within a global team, some international travel may be required on occasions, as well as a flexible approach to working hours.
