Senior Data Architect

About the Team:

At Aspire, Finance plays a strategic role in driving our business forward. Our Finance team consists of a wide range of crucial functions across 5 verticals: (i) Financial Controlling with Financial reporting, Audit support, Cost Management, Compliance and Risk Management and Tax planning, Reporting, (ii) Treasury, which is a core function for a Fintech with Cash flow and Liquidity Risk, Treasury Product, FX Risk Management, Treasury Operation and Treasury Risk Management, (iii) Data including Business Intelligence, Data Analytics and Data Engineering, (iv) Strategy & Planning, which covers strategic road map, long term planning, fundraising and FP&A and (v) Credit Risk including risk modelling and scoring, portfolio monitoring and credit control. Our Finance team engages in frequent strategic data analysis, research, and modeling to provide the best financial insights for critical business decisions, helping Aspire navigate the competitive landscape and capitalize on emerging opportunities. The team also plays a key part as the first user of our Aspire software, pioneer in Finance transformation, reengineering our internal process to stay agile while maintaining the internal control in a hyper fast growing environment.

About the Role

  • Review, define and manage data architecture framework and roadmap to meet business and technology requirements, while adhering to security policies and regulations.
  • Work with business and technical stakeholders to analyse and document structural requirements for new systems and applications, designing conceptual and logical data models and flowcharts
  • Design, optimize, and maintain best practice data warehouse solutions and data models for the storage and retrieval of data
  • Help implement a robust data quality management process with automated checks to ensure the integrity and reliability of data
  • Produce and maintain documentation of the data architecture, data flows, and processes to facilitate self-service across the organisation.
  • Build and implement processes around data retention and lifecycle management
  • Work closely with Business Intelligence team to ensure the delivery of timely and high-quality dashboards, reports, and analyses
  • Establish best practice data governance as a strong foundation for being a data informed organisation
  • Recommend solutions to improve new and existing systems and take us to the next level of data maturity
  • Monitor and optimise performance of our data warehouse by performing regular tests, troubleshooting and integrating new features.
  • Leads activities and provides mentoring and guidance to other developers.
  • Demonstrates technical leadership, and exerts influence outside of immediate team.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree with at least 5 years of relevant working experience
  • Strong knowledge of database and data warehouse structure principles, data mining, ETL processes and designs
  • Strong data architecture, data modeling, schema design and effective data management skills.
  • Experience working with Python and database systems (SQL, NoSQL) 
  • Knowledge of AWS services including Redshift, Apache Airflow (MWAA), Airbyte, and S3
  • Proven organizational and analytical abilities and outstanding problem solver
  • Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau or equivalent)
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines in a data environment
  • Experience working in fintech or a high-growth, fast-paced environment
  • Proven experience leading and mentoring a team of data engineers or architects
  • Demonstrated ability to drive end-to-end data architecture solutions from conception to production
  • Certifications in AWS services
  • Expertise in data governance frameworks and regulatory compliance (GDPR, PDPA, etc.)
