What you'll do:
This role is responsible for overseeing the design and execution of comprehensive research initiatives, analyzing market trends, and competitor activities to identify key opportunities and threats. By delivering actionable intelligence and strategic recommendations to leadership and cross-functional teams, this individual will play a pivotal role in shaping product strategy, enhancing market positioning, and enabling the organization to achieve its growth objectives in a dynamic and competitive environment.
How you'll make an impact:

Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team of CI/MR professionals, setting clear objectives, providing ongoing guidance and feedback, and fostering a collaborative and insights-driven team culture.

Complete performance reviews, and be responsible for HR related activities for the team (development of KPAs, HR Touchpoint meetings, professional development).

Developing and overseeing the strategic planning, execution, and delivery of all market research and competitive intelligence initiatives, ensuring methodologies are thorough, findings are actionable, and insights can inform key business strategies, product development, and go to market plans.

Champion the integration of market and competitive insights across the organization by establishing and managing processes for distributing intelligence reports to stakeholders (including leadership, product/product marketing, sales, and marketing teams).

Direct the continuous monitoring and analysis of the competitive landscape, market trends, customer preferences, and industry challenges, ensuring the team provides comprehensive assessments and proactive recommendations to maintain our competitive edge.

Lead and execute “Deep Dive” competitive analysis on key competitors, product categories, or market segments.

Collaborate with senior leaders to define strategic comp intel/market research priorities and opportunities to deepen our market knowledge and competitive understanding.

Monitor and analyze global market trends, technological advancements, regulatory changes and evolving customer behaviours that impact our business.

Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and cross-functional teams on all matters related to competitive intelligence and global market dynamics.

Establish and maintain regular reporting mechanisms (e.g. dashboards, alerts) to ensure timely dissemination of critical intelligence.
What you'll bring to the role:

Post-Secondary Degree in Market Research or a related field.
-
MBA or equivalent with a solid background in business strategy and technology is an asset.
-
8+ years experience in market research, competitive intelligence or consulting roles assessing companies/industries to support strategic decisions.

Experience in the telematics / fleet management industry is an asset.

Experience in managing a team of researchers and creating new CI/MR programs within an organization.

Experience with competitive intelligence tools and market research platforms.

Deep knowledge of our industry and competitors, including how our customers use fleet management technology.

Experience working within a software/tech/engineering organization and knowledge of the high-technology industry.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve and make sense of complex quantitative and qualitative data.

Strategic mindset, has a keen sense of priorities, along with an ability to pivot as the landscape changes.

A strong player-coach with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.

Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).

Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
