Senior Accountant - Cash Management

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Cash Manager, the Senior Accountant is responsible for daily cash operations and accurate and timely accounting for cash, investments, and loans for NYCEDC and affiliated entities. The Senior Accountant prepares and enters journal entries and prepares supporting schedules as needed. The Senior Accountant interacts with colleagues within the organization to understand transactions and ensure they are timely and accurately recorded. The Senior Accountant builds strong work relationships with colleagues to facilitate the transfer of information and documentation needed for financial reporting and audit through collaboration and customer service in order to respond to inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly cash and investment reports and bank analyses to management.
- Maintain comprehensive workpaper packages and prepare journal entries and account and bank reconciliations for cash, investments, and loans and effectively address any discrepancies.
- Monitor KPIs and forecast for cash, investments, and loans for management review.
- Manage loans process including monthly billing, application of cash receipts, and preparing bad debt schedules.
- Maintain loan portfolios in LoanPro including entering new loans in accordance with executed agreements and preparing loan schedules.
- Act as a back-up to analyze and perform daily application of cash receipts into the accounting general ledger systems, as necessary.
- Respond to inquiries timely, both internal and external, and resolve issues regarding cash receipts and applications.
- Assist with requests from internal and external auditors as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 3 years of experience in Accounting
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Experience with Microsoft Great Plains, MRI, LoanPro, and Bloomberg is a plus
- Strong foundational knowledge of US GAAP to ensure cash, investments, and loans are fairly recorded and presented
- Self-starter with proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated communication skills; communicating clearly, concisely, and professionally with internal and external stakeholders
- Maintains the highest level of professionalism by upholding ethical standards and confidentiality consistent with the role
- Must be a New York City resident within 180 days of hire
Salary Range
$82,000 - $84,000 USD
