Lead, Product Management - Exterior Accessories

Slate is a new US company that is exploring development in the electric vehicle space.
Who we are looking for:
Slate is adding a product manager to accelerate our path to personalization. This product manager will focus on developing and implementing strategy, capacity, readiness, and growth plans for new product lines in a customization business. The right person for the job is capable and passionate about driving an end-to-end program in a new category. A strong passion for Automotive Technology and Customization will be a plus for this role! Think start-up within a start-up.
What you get to do:
- Strategic Development: Review and improve the comprehensive business strategy for a new product initiative, including market analysis, positioning, and growth opportunities.
- Operational Planning and Execution: Translate strategic ideas into financially viable operational plans, detailing the processes for development, production, installation, training, and customer service.
- Decision Making: Drive decisions on critical strategic and operational factors, particularly in make vs. buy for all aspects of the value chain.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Communicate the business case and demonstrate the initiative’s alignment with Slate's vision to secure input from stakeholders, including the brand, supply chain, accessories, and digital teams.
- Partner Management: Develop relationships and be the point of contact for strategic partners on technical development, industrialization, and installation.
- Implementation Leadership: Drive all aspects of the implementation, ensuring objectives and milestones are met on time to deliver revenue goals.
- Brand Integration: Ensure the new product category reinforces the company’s brand proposition, maintaining consistency in quality and messaging.
- Team Leadership: Assemble, build, and lead a cross-functional team that evolves as the company matures.
What you bring to the Team:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, supply chain, engineering, or equivalent. MS/MBA a Plus.
- 10+ years of experience in hardware operations and project management: preferred experience in automotive/power sports accessories, lifestyle accessories, or supplier development.
- Grit! Strong interest in building something, working in an entrepreneurial environment where you will get many things done.
- General Management Competence: Strong background in multiple business management functions with the ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
- Proven track record of taking projects from concept to completion, with project management, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable in start-up environments. You will roll up your sleeves to do the work and build or recommend the tools needed to be successful as the company grows.
- A low ego and “one company” teammate with a continuous improvement approach who is equally comfortable with engineering details and business planning.
- Capability to work cross-functionally with partners, suppliers, and vendors, building solid relationships that produce positive results.
- An ability to be an effective brand representative and ambassador to the Slate community, presenting the Slate vision and collecting input that leads to the development of future products.
- Proven experience leading without direct authority. You will work across org charts and company lines to drive program success.
- Must love cars! You’ll be thinking about cars all day every day, and it’s the most fun when you love cars.
