Manager – Body Structures
What you get to do:
- The Body Structures manager/Technical Expert is responsible for the design, integration, and production release of the complete BIW for Slate.
- This role is responsible for selecting suppliers, approving designs, ensuring manufacturability, preparing components, and tracking costs and investments.
- Additionally, support future design direction, resolve component and system issues, manage design changes, and assist with supplier quality assurance and warranty resolution.
- The Body Structures Manager will collaborate with Slate on all development phases and handle all BIW issues as single point of contact.
- Responsible for the creation and validation of all technical requirements for body structure, managing packaging constraints, and conducting future planning.
- This employee will work with Chief Engineers, Vehicle Integration, Purchasing, Program Managers, and Design Release teams to ensure a successful design and development cycle for Slate.
- Managerial duties include hiring, organizational development, and process improvement.
What you bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. (Equivalent from an ABET accredited will also be considered)
- Master’s degree is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience with engineering experience in the field of body structures.
- Excellent communication Team building and relationship building skills.
- Design Release Engineering experience with BIW components
- Test and validation experience with BIW Components
- Knowledge of BIW strength and durability
- Ability to lead teams and meetings through technical tradeoffs and optimized solutions with attention to detail.
- Experience with technical tools such as DFMEA, DVP&R, GD&T, Design for Manufacturing, Lean, and other tool chains
- Broad vehicle technical and vehicle development process knowledge including how to set technical targets, work with teams to determine feasibility (virtually and physically) and validate with statistical confidence.
- Ability and Desire to build your own team and work in a fun and fast-paced environment
- Ability to use CATIA and PLM systems will be required
