Slate is a new US Electric Vehicle company transforming the battery electric vehicle space.
Who we are looking for:
The Corrosion Attribute Engineering will develop and lead the extended team that specifies the Corrosion attributes. This position will be responsible for understanding vehicle, system and component technical specifications and performance targets.
What you get to do:
The Corrosion Attribute Engineer will lead the development of Vehicle, System, and Component Level Targets for all corrosion related attributes, ensure design feasibility, and eventually validate as required with component or full vehicle level tests. The Corrosion Attribute Engineer will be responsible for the development, assessment, and validation of corrosion requirements. Provide training and guidance to team members on corrosion prevention techniques and best practices. This candidate will lead the team to identify and resolve issues as the vehicle is developed. In this role, the candidate will lead Corrosion Attribute team meetings and work closely with all product development teams. They will establish technical targets, optimize solutions, and validate all stages of the vehicle's life.
What you bring to the team:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Material Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program.
- 5+ years of experience in Corrosion with Vehicle development and validation capability.
- Practical work experience in corrosion control coatings, inhibitors, paints or/and electrochemistry, including specifications and testing procedures.
- Excellent communication Team building and relationship building skills.
- Ability to lead teams and meetings through technical tradeoffs and optimized solutions with attention to detail.
- Broad vehicle technical and vehicle development process knowledge including how to set technical targets, work with teams to determine feasibility (virtually and physically) and validate.
- Design Release Engineering experience a plus
- Technical writing and documentation experience
