KPNX-12News, the TEGNA-owned NBC affiliate in Phoenix, Arizona, is looking for a National Sales Manager to lead our national and political sales efforts.

The National Sales Manager will negotiate the largest share of national and political business possible within the boundaries of the rate structure. This position super-serves national clients and agencies to continue to position KPNX for maximum revenue opportunities in the Linear, Digital, and OTT space and contribute to top-line revenue.

Reporting to the Director of Sales, this position will be responsible for executing a sales strategy for creating demand. The National Sales Manager will help TEGNA Sales expand and develop new and incremental revenue through our integrated suite of platforms and solutions.

This position is eligible for the Company's incentives plan(s).

Responsibilities:

  • Own and manage all political and national advertising sales efforts including negotiations and transactions, and public files.
  • Attain or exceed assigned budget and achieve estimated market share goals for all billing types.
  • Develop incremental revenue opportunities within new and existing national advertisers as they relate to all platforms.
  • Work closely with the Director of Sales and Local Sales Managers in pricing and managing inventory to effectively sell KPNX to all accounts – local and national.
  • Plan, develop, and execute a strategy to achieve revenue goals by increasing shares of business for KPNX on existing and new accounts.
  • Act as a marketing consultant to national accounts utilizing station marketing and merchandising materials in developing marketing plans, co-promotions, and vendor programs.
  • Negotiate effectively and secure NTR/sponsorship/Enterprise opportunities.
  • Participate in client meetings, building relationships with top regional clients and be active in the community.
  • Ensure the national sales team continually positions the audience for rate and share of business.
  • Respond to avails and/or assign accordingly and work with the Programming Manager to maximize all Paid Programming avails and placement.
  • Track performance and monitor and approve all new, revised, and canceled National orders.
  • Oversee pre-logs, posts, pre-empts, make goods, and Accounts Receivable.
  • Travel to build and maintain successful relationships with buyers, planners, and clients.
  • Assist the Director of Sales with special projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of broadcast TV sales experience and account engagement
  • Track record of successfully achieving or exceeding national sales goals in the broadcast TV sales industry within fast-changing, dynamic environments.
  • A proven track record of packaging and selling sports and specials sponsorships along with other premium programming and products.
  • History of managing political advertising and fluency in the rules and regulations surrounding political for candidate and issue advertisers.
  • Established leadership skills and elite sales and customer service skills.
  • Strategic thinker and disciplined executor comfortable developing and making recommendations to senior management.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Wide Orbit Sales, Wide Orbit Traffic & Analytics, ComScore, Matrix, Media Monitors, Ad Impact and qualitative data.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects effectively under deadline pressure.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to effectively solve problems.
  • Strong presenter and communicator with internal and external customers and partners.
