The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.

The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

Associate, Event Management:
The Event Management team is responsible for leading the integrated event operational planning at the venue level for all competition and training venues and some major non-competition venues. The group is also responsible for managing and coordinating the negotiation of venue agreements, the collation and organization of venue-related documentation and data, and the maintenance of strong working relationships with all venue partners. At Games Time, the Event Management team leads and manages the event teams at venues, event delivery, venue communication, and venue issue resolution.
The Associate, Event Management will be responsible for supporting centralized data management and project management efforts across all competition venues and a subset of non-competition venues.
The ideal candidate will be organized and detail-oriented, with strong foundational skills in data management and project coordination. They will focus on supporting the development of key systems and tools for integrated operational planning and supporting project tracking and ensuring tasks are delivered on schedule. Analytical skills and familiarity with dashboards and reporting tools will be essential to help monitor progress and performance. Comfortable juggling multiple tasks, they will assist in coordinating venue partner information, tracking action items, and ensuring the accuracy of Games planning data. Frequent, clear, and consistent communication with cross-functional venue teams (Venue Infrastructure, Sport, Technology, etc.) will be key to their role.
This position will report to the Director, Event Planning & Integration.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Management & Analysis
- Manage the collection, organization and distribution of pertinent venue and venue partner-related documents, information and data ensuring up-to-date information is accessible to internal stakeholders
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of internal venue-related data in Games planning data management systems
- Support ad-hoc projects with data analysis to optimize venue operations
Systems & Tools Development
- Serve as a liaison between operational functions and the technology team to support the development of cross-functional systems and tools
- Maintain and enhance event management-led platforms for integrated operational planning
- Manage and maintain platforms for integrated venue communication and information/documentation distribution (SharePoint, Smartsheet)
Event Operational Planning
- Prepare templates, toolkits and other planning assets that support venue teams with executing operational planning, venue site visits, and venue use agreements
- Coordinate operational planning with venue teams, ensuring alignment on goals, deliverables, timelines, and execution plans
Project Coordination & Team Support
- Provide central support to maintain tracking of risks, issues, decisions, and actions across venue groups
- Develop, organize, and track comprehensive meeting and project agendas, materials, and follow-ups, proactively monitoring and managing action items
- Collate and prepare presentation materials for varied audiences, including colleagues, business partners, and senior leaders
- Provide contract management support by documenting key agreement provisions and contract deliverables
- Support the team onboarding process as required
Background & Qualifications:
- 2+ years of relevant experience in project coordination, data management, or operational support in a fast-paced environment such as event, sports, or complex organizational setting
- Ability to use advanced features/functions in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, and an ability to adapt rapidly to new organizational tools as they are introduced by LA28
- Working knowledge of project management software (i.e. Smartsheet, Asana, etc.)
- Proven experience in using data for decision-making, with the ability to identify trends and derive insights
- Ability to work successfully with varied audiences showcasing strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to address and resolve conflicts effectively, especially when coordinating across diverse teams with differing priorities
- Extremely detail-oriented with excellent organizational, operational and program execution skills
- Well-developed problem-solving skills and ability to work independently, while also knowing when to seek feedback and buy-in
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and contribute under pressure, see a project through to completion, and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB)
- Availability to work in-person five days a week in a Los Angeles-based office
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to support data analysis and communication with stakeholders.
- Prior experience in event planning or venue operations to understand unique challenges and requirements for high-stakes events like the Olympics and Paralympics
- Certification in project management (e.g. CAPM, PMP, Project+)

The annual base salary range for this position is $70,000.00 - $75,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
