The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.

The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

Senior Manager, Venue and Village Logistics

The Logistics department is responsible for effectively and efficiently delivering materials management and logistics support to all LA28 functions. The Venue and Village Logistics Senior Manager will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of a logistics ecosystem encompassing all Olympic and Paralympic Venues and Villages. They will oversee the entire department and budget of approximately $50M. As Senior Manager, Venue and Villages Logistics, they will oversee all aspects of operations, from planning and procurement to execution. Reporting to the Head of Logistics, this position will play a critical role in the on-time and efficient delivery of the Games' equipment and materials, balancing innovation, sustainability, and cost-efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Leadership 

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive Venue and Villages logistics strategy for the LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games, aligning with broader Games operational objectives. 
  • People Management: Stand up a team of venue managers. Develop staffing plans, interview, hire and supervise employees R
  • Reporting: Define and deliver against key performance indicators (KPI's) and key success factors within Logistics  
  • Budget Management:Develop and manage the budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial constraints. 
  • Partner Integration:Work with existing venue partners, suppliers, logistics providers and stakeholders to plan and deliver venue and village logistics.  

Cross-Functional Planning: Coordinate across Functional Areas to establish operating plans and standard procedures. Village and Venue Management  

  • Enable the receipt of materials and equipment from the centralized warehousing and direct from suppliers and contractors 
  • Develop Logistics Management Control & Communication Plan (LCC Concept)
  • Bump In / Bump Out of goods to venues  
  • Unpack and assembly of FFE  
  • Management of Games-time receipt of shipments  
  • Support in development and adherence to security policies  
  • Support the efficient and cost-effective delivery of the right solution to support internal and external games clients in their planning and games time operation.
  • Identify and mitigate risks which may impact cost performance.
  • Collaborate with business partners to identify and resolve any critical issues impacting the games
  • Create synergies with other functions to improve redundancy of assets, while balancing cost of Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF&E) 

Background & Qualifications:

  • 7 years' experience in end-to-end Logistics planning
  • Logistic experience for events is strongly preferred.  
  • Previous experience with previous Olympic & Paralympic Games or other multi-sport games such as Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, European Games or FIFA FWC will receive strong consideration
  • Proven track record in managing complex projects, multi-tasking, and prioritization of tasks and deliverables
  • Leadership skills in managing a diverse team
  • Excellent analytical skills: ability to make decisions both independently and within a team environment
  • Strong IT skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • A team player with a strong customer service focus with and a desire to go the extra mile
  • Demonstrate ability in upward / downward communication  
  • Competence to present and clearly communicate to audiences in a multitude of public / private settings, as required
  • Willing to work on complex, tight, immovable timelines while maintaining a positive attitude, exhibiting patience, persistence and  
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural, multi-national environment
  • High attention to detail 

Position Requirements:

Education:

  • An undergraduate degree or relevant Logistics preferred / Managerial certification 

Expectations:

  • Confident self-starter – Ability to make quick decisions, gathering input from key stakeholders and advancing the ball forward with pace 
  • Collaborative and flexible approach – Ability to roll with the transitional nature of the organization as it grows and establishes itself over the next 5 years

  • Team player – ability to scale up and down and drive both Logistics and flawless execution 
  • Passion for sport; passion for Los Angeles

The annual base salary range for this position is $115,000.00 - $130,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
