Director, Fraud Managment

San Mateo, CA (Collab)

The team enables consumers to safely login, play, and pay for all their purchases by improving security while minimizing friction within the entire PlayStation® ecosystem. You will be responsible for actively guiding all anti-fraud strategies and operations globally while working collaboratively with diverse internal teams to identify new opportunities for innovation. 

Leading the team to form a strong strategy around optimization, the commercial business, fraud monitoring & operations (including chargeback management), and partner management. You will collaborate with diverse cross-functional teams to drive customer engagement and realize efficiency gains across operational trust and safety functions. 

As a part of a remarkable data science team and decisioning platform interconnected throughout the PlayStation ecosystem, you will be responsible for expanding touchpoints and delivering enhanced data and services to optimize our platform decisions. 

As the lead ambassador for Fraud Management, your main responsibility is to communicate the business strategy and requirements to all departments involved in implementing fraud management solutions. These departments encompass Engineering, Data Science, Product, Customer Service, Legal, Partner Relations, Game Studios, and Finance. 

Your Responsibilities 

  • Leading the fraud management business strategy for the PlayStation® ecosystem 

  • Working closely with Data Science and ML Engineering to improve our Decision Platform’s ability to make critical decisions 

  • Guiding internal business partners’ prioritization and success by collaborating closely with Product Management and Engineering 

  • Developing and maintaining effective partner relationships to minimize risk while improving opportunity and revenue. 

  • Developing the team that handles our fraud/risk/identity vendor and partner relationships, ensuring all agreements and products are commercially/financially viable. 

  • Driving the bad debt (fraud and refund) optimization strategy 

  • Continually staying appraised of any changing regulatory activities that impact global fraud, risk, and identity strategy 

Your Experience/Skills 

Essential 

  • 10 years+ experience leading fraud, risk, and identity activities in a digital and physical ecommerce environment whilst delivering significant results 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and master’s degree preferred 

  • Recognized fraud management industry leader with global understanding of standard methodologies and track record of innovation 

  • Extensive experience working with decisioning platforms and data science organizations 

  • Experience and proven record of navigating the regulatory landscape 

  • Ability to navigate effectively across sophisticated geographically and commercially diverse operations 

  • Ability to provide high impact and quality proposals and presentations and hold meetings with senior team members 

  • Ability to optimally establish relationships with external and internal partners 

  • Ability to improve team performance – accountable for building collaborative working environments for team to operate optimally, providing mentoring and leadership and sharing knowledge 

Desirable 

  • Experience in the video games industry. 

  • Language skills, particularly Japanese

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$212,600 - $318,800 USD
