Software Engineer II, Cloud Operations

We are seeking a Software Engineer with Data Scientist interests to enhance our internal cost management software ecosystem and apply machine learning techniques to analyze large datasets related to costs and customer usage. In this role, you will collaborate with internal engineering teams to deliver data-driven insights that inform both operational and strategic business decisions.
You will be joining a small, diverse, and close-knit team operating in a fast-paced, agile environment. As an engineer, you are encouraged to bring fresh, innovative ideas to the table while working alongside your peers to improve our tools and advance our AI/ML capabilities.
WHAT YOU'LL DO

Collaborate with engineering leaders to understand their domain, facilitate usage forecasting, analyze service level trends, and ensure the efficient utilization of cloud resources by advocating FinOps best practices.

Take a proactive approach in identifying opportunities for optimization by applying data science methodologies & business context to analyze logs, metrics, costs, and other data sources.

Contribute to the creation and enhancement of internal tools, including scripts, backend systems, full-stack applications, and AI/ML solutions.

Automate repetitive tasks and design innovative workflows to improve efficiency and productivity.

Oversee complex processes involving collaboration with members from multiple teams across the organization.

Engage with individuals across the technical spectrum, from junior engineers to senior leaders, and effectively communicate complex technical concepts.
WHO YOU ARE
Required skills
-
Familiarity with FinOps and/or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts.

Associates degree or relevant experience.
-
Proven experience in analyzing large datasets and deriving actionable insights.

Proficiency in SQL and general database management; experience with BigQuery is a plus.

Strong skills in using spreadsheets for data analysis and reporting.

Proficient in Python.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas effectively.

Working knowledge of Kubernetes and its infrastructure.
Preferred skills
-
Experience with financial or unit-based forecasting.

Proficiency in data modeling and scenario analysis.

Hands-on experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Looker.

Understanding of public cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP), but experience with AWS is also valued.

Terraform Experience.

$125,500 - $157,000 USD
