The Discover Engineering team is responsible for developing new features to enable customers to manage high-value content in Box with automated content lifecycle tools that reduce compliance, privacy and litigation risk. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in developing our core eDiscovery, Data Governance, and Compliance features. These capabilities are game-changers, enabling our customers to search, analyze, and control their data while meeting regulations like GDPR and CCPA.
What you'll do:
- Build, enhance and maintain Discover/Content Manager/Compliance features
- Write/review high-quality, testable, maintainable, and well-documented code
- Triage, refine and resolve bugs and customer issues
- Collaborate across teams to improve front-end tech stack at Box
- Contribute to the shared component library - your code will be re-used across multiple product areas at Box
- Follow the quality strategy defined by the team. Adhere to the testing best practices available at Box
- Team up with other talented engineers to foster solid engineering principles and represent our engineering values
- Partner with product to scope new features, provide project estimates and milestones to inform quarterly commitments
- Clearly communicate complex problems and technical concepts to both engineers and non-engineers and can break down complex requirements into steps
What you will bring:
- 5+ years in software development experience with main focus on front-end
- Proficiency in TypeScript and React.
- Experience with back-end tech stack (Java, Scala, Node.js) and helping define REST APIs
- Experience with testing principles and frameworks (Jest/Cucumber/WebdriverIO etc.)
- Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and OOP
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
- A passion for clean code, automated testing, and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD)
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- You are a quick learner and able to jump into diverse technology stack
Nice to Have:
- Experience with GCP services.
- Experience with containerization (Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience building and operating cloud microservices, preferably in a container environment
- Background with distributed systems
Percentage of time spent:
- 50% coding (feature-related)
- 20% bugs refinement and resolution
- 10% technical design and documentation
- 10% feature refinements
- 10% meetings
Methodology:
Our tech stack offers a diverse and challenging environment, including GCP, Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitLab, Jira, and more. We use modern Observability and Distributed Tracing stack (Splunk, WaveFront, SingnalFX). To make your work easier your will have access to IntelliJ Ultimate and Copilot Business.
