Quality Assurance Director

Purpose of Position

  • We are seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Quality Assurance Director to lead and manage all aspects of our quality function. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in a similar role within a global manufacturing and distribution environment, ideally with experience in both hard goods and soft goods. This role requires a strong understanding of quality management systems, a data-driven approach, and the ability to build and lead high-performing teams. The Quality Assurance Director will be responsible for ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations and comply with all relevant regulations and standards.

 

Job Description

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive quality management system (QMS): defining all procedures across all aspects of the Product Lifecycle from “Product Development Project Kicking Off”, “Tooling”, “Sampling”, “Mass-production”, to “Customer Service” and “Repeat Orders.” 
  • Integrating Quality Early in Development: By adopting practices like Continuous Integration and Continuous Testing,  ensures quality is considered from the outset, enabling rapid iterations and innovative features.
  • Quality Planning: Defining quality objectives, identifying potential quality issues, and developing preventative measures.
  • Quality Control: Implementing inspection and testing procedures at various stages of production to ensure products meet specifications. This includes establishing acceptance criteria, conducting regular audits, and managing non-conforming materials.
  • Quality Assurance: Establishing processes to ensure the overall quality of the products and services. This includes monitoring customer satisfaction, conducting root cause analysis of defects, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Quality Improvement: Continuously improving the QMS through data analysis, process optimization, and the implementation of lean methodologies. This includes tracking key quality metrics, identifying trends, and implementing corrective and preventative actions. 
  • Oversee quality inspections and testing: This includes establishing inspection plans, conducting audits, and managing non-conformances. This requires collaboration with manufacturing, sourcing, and logistics teams.
  • Supplier Quality Management: This includes establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers, conducting supplier audits, and ensuring that supplier products meet quality standards.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with our global teams to ensure all products meet regulatory standards and applicable certifications based on the needs of each geographic region. Stay updated on regulatory changes and coordinate necessary certifications.
  • Manage customer complaints and returns: This includes investigating customer complaints, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and maintain quality metrics and reporting: This includes tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), analyzing data, and reporting on quality performance to senior management.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including product management,  product development, product engineering, merchandising, design, shipping, and customer service to identify quality issues and give proven actions on time;

 

Core KPI

  • Defect Rate: Percentage of products that do not meet quality standards
  • Customer Satisfaction Related to Product Quality: Customer feedback score reflecting satisfaction with product quality (e.g., survey ratings).
  • First Pass Yield: Percentage of products passing quality inspection without rework.
  • Time to Resolve Quality Issues: Average time taken to address and resolve reported quality problems.
  • Cost of Quality: Total costs associated with ensuring quality, including prevention, appraisal, and failure costs.

 

Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field. An advanced degree (Master's or MBA) is a plus.
  • 12+ years of experience in quality assurance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role of Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality Management, Quality Control and Quality Compliance.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing quality management systems (QMS) in a manufacturing environment, with experience in both hard goods and soft goods. Tech Accessories (Phone Cases and Connectivity Products) background is a plus. 
  • Experience in managing supplier quality.
  • Quality Assurance Management experience in MNC Retail & Cross-border E-Commerce (DTC & Marketplace) is preferred. 
  • Experienced in managing supplier quality. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite. 
  • Fluency in English and Cantonese is a plus.
