We currently have a need for a Network Deployment Engineer supporting multi-campus Network Infrastructure environment. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of relevant work experience supporting network integrations, consolidations and hardware upgrades for data/voice/video/wireless technologies. Global Financial Services, Healthcare or Pharmaceutical experience is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Perform an initial assessment detailing project site conditions, deficiencies, and requirements for infrastructure build.
- Maintain up-to-date status on construction, cabling, power, cooling, etc. through PM and escalate any issues that may delay network hardware deployment
- Based on project requirements, build a Rough Order of Magnitude [RoM] cost for Network Equipment and Resources
- Once Bill of Materials (BoM) processed, obtain Purchase Order # from PM and follow-up with vendor on shipment/delivery status
- Work with Structured Cabling to finalize rack elevations, confirm fiber/copper risers, and understand the horizontal cabling plan
- Build Network Connectivity Visio diagram for all network hardware and interconnects based on the latest approved Network Engineering Designs
- Allocate the IP Network blocks for the site, all floors, and all services and work with end-user-device support teams on IP address reservations/assignments
- Build the network configuration templates for all Distribution, Wired, Wireless, and Security switches based on the latest approved Network Engineering Designs
- Build basic connectivity templates for Wireless Controllers, Firewalls, and Voice gateways based on the latest approved Wireless/Security/UC Engineering Designs
- Rack/Stack/Connect all network hardware according to elevations and interconnect information in the already built Visio diagrams
- Work with Telecom provisioning team to receive, connect, test, validate, and documents all data carrier circuits. Work with Telecom provisioning and carrier to resolve all issues
- Upgrade/Downgrade IOS codes on network hardware to approved versions of code. Excludes Firewalls and Wireless Controllers
- Successfully complete and document failover tests that include, WAN links, Uplinks, Hardware, and Power
- Update all required tools that support the network infrastructure; Solarwinds, NetMRI, Infoblox, TACACs, Stealthwatch, CMDB, etc.
- Provide support to teams during end-device deployment ahead, during and after of Go-Live.
- Decommission Network Infrastructure based on project scope, gather requirements and discuss decommission details.
- Report onsite day of decommission to disconnect, power down, remove, and label all network equipment then move from site to storage and confirm move
Skills required:
- 5+ years' experience with enterprise-level network deployment and implementation
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical discipline
- Hands on experience racking and stacking network hardware
- Thorough experience with Cisco Catalyst 4500, 6500, 3850, 9300, 9500, 9400 switches, including implementing and troubleshooting all aspects of L1 – L4 networking.
- Thorough experience with Cisco ISR routers 2900, 3900, 4400, including implementing and troubleshooting all aspects of L1 – L4 networking.
- Proficient with the design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and monitoring of core LAN/WAN/MAN services
- Proficient in routing protocols: BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, HSRP/GLBP, Multicast
- Advanced knowledge of layer two protocols, LLDP, CDP, ARP, Port Channeling, Trunks, STP, MPLS, etc.
- Mastery of advanced performance tuning and capacity management concepts
- Through understanding of IP concepts including routing, VLAN's, QoS, tuning and capacity management concepts
- In-depth understanding of network security and access control
- Experience with Network Security, i.e. Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet
- Knowledge of Cisco Wireless LAN, helping with surveys and mounting of equipment
- Current Cisco data networking certifications i.e. CCNA, CCNP, CCDP, CCIE strongly preferred
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills
- Excellent documentation skills, Visio, Flowcharts, Block Diagrams, Processes, etc.
Physical Demands:
- Regular use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
- Regular, repetitive movements such as typing, mouse movements, and scrolling. Ability to hear and understand spoken communications, both in person and via remote communication tools (e.g., phone, video conferencing).
- Ability to see and read computer screens and printed documents, as well as adjust focus. This includes prolonged periods of looking at a computer screen.
Must be vaccinated for influenza annually and able to work onsite in NYC paying a salary range of $105,000 to $115,000 annually.
