The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.

LA28, the organizers for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, is on a mission to create an unparalleled Games experience for athletes, fans, partners, our community and our people. Our vision is to collectively create what’s next through sport, community and the power of our differences.

The 2028 Olympics and Paralympics will represent LA and leverage the strength of our community’s diversity and creativity as we collectively work to design a Games that we all want to be a part of. We do this by focusing on people and by inviting everyone into the story of the LA28 Games.

The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

Intern, Technology:

The 2025 LA28 Internship Program gives current and recent undergraduate students the opportunity to contribute hands-on, meaningful work to crucial planning stages for the 2028 Olympic & Paralympic Games. Interns will be placed in a specific functional area, directly supporting the day-to-day work and long-term projects of the team. In addition, interns will participate in unique roundtables, community service, and research projects as a cohort to deepen understanding of the organization, our mission, and key skillsets to pursue a future field of their choice. This is a paid, 10-week, 30-hour-a-week program, in person at our Los Angeles Headquarters. 

Technology enables the delivery and operations of virtually all aspects of successful Olympic and Paralympic Games. LA28’s Technology department works to support and implement a broad range of technologies across the organization. The Technology team delivers services, systems and operations in support of the OCOG business needs and delivers specific Games planning services to various stakeholders. 

LA28’s technology team is looking for a highly motivated intern to support multiple areas on the team as we implement and improve technical solutions to support the organization. This team player will have a background and / or strong interest in technology (either through previous internships or academic study) and be able to collaborate well across teams. Our ideal candidate will be well organized, have a customer success mindset, and a strong technical acumen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Documentation of user guides, process flows, and test scripts, supporting working groups with documentation, supporting training and/or testing activities with business users, troubleshooting and customer service skills to document issues.
  • Daily tasks may include a high level of interaction with business users from Functional Areas across the organization.  
  • Intern would be mentored in methodologies, applications and technologies, and given access to training that could support a future career in Tech. 
  • Games System Implementations: Supporting LA28 team members to interface with vendors and business team members by creating documentation and executing system testing to ensure delivered system complies with requirements. 
  • Business process discovery: Analyze business processes to gather requirements across functional areas, understanding functional needs.  
  • Support the development of training documentation and facilitation of training sessions to ensure business adoption of new technology, across various tech initiatives (Salesforce, Microsoft applications, Data Warehouse, etc.).

 

Background & Qualifications:

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work in a mainly in-person environment, 4-5 days in our Los Angeles office 
  • Must be able to work the full 10 week duration of the internship from June 16 – August 22, 30 hours a week 
  • This role requires extended periods of computer use and virtual collaboration. 
  • Occasional travel to venue sites or external events may be required. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment 
  • May need to work some non-traditional work hours for specific events, such as evenings or weekends (will be communicated well in advance) 
  • May require lifting and transporting materials, such as documents, technology equipment, or event-related supplies (up to 25 lbs).  

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in progress or recent graduate (graduation date December 2024 or later) 
  • Project-based coursework preferred

Interns can expect an hourly rate of $18.00 per hour and will be scheduled to work a 30-hour week. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
