Director, Human Resources Business Partner

In the dynamic world of NFL Media, the role of the Director, Human Resources Business Partner is pivotal in shaping our organizational culture and driving strategic initiatives. Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and manage a people strategy that proactively addresses business needs by partnering with leaders to create and execute an effective organizational design that attracts, develops and retains high performing employees focused on results. Provide a high level of HR support/partnership rooted in progressive service excellence and client focused internal consulting. 
  • Help develop and drive inclusion goals and progress for all client groups 
  • Interpret and advise on HR policy; maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to the day-to-day management of employees; ensure compliance with all applicable employment policies, regulations and laws. 
  • Work with wider shared services team to provide best in first class strategic business partnering and responsive, quality service to all employees within the client group; share knowledge and best practices that will help HR be more effective across the organization. 
  • Directly provide the provision of expert advice and counsel to leaders on all organization and human resources issues. 
  • Lead the implementation of all key company-wide HR initiatives and employee life cycle activities for the client group (e.g., learning programs, compensation planning, performance management and talent planning for client groups). 
  • In partnership with Talent Acquisition team, develop the internal and external recruitment and planning strategies to meet needs of client groups including for seasonal and agency planning and hiring.   
  • Provide day to day coaching and performance management guidance; provide ongoing leadership coaching to key executives within the organization; work with managers and employees to build strong work relationships, resulting in high morale, productivity and retention. 
  • Utilize data and analytics to inform business decisions and assess organizational effectiveness; partner with the business to develop and implement plans to address any issues identified. 
  • Champion and execute progressive HR practices 

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology or a related field  
  • 8 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years management experience   
  • Understanding of, and experience with, core aspects of Human Resource Management (staffing; employee relations; compliance; investigations, compensation planning, performance management; leadership development; training) 
  • Deep working knowledge of CA employment law, including hiring practices, EEO, EEOC, wage and hour, labor relations, etc. 
  • Proven knowledge of inclusion tools and effective strategies 
  • Ability to think strategically and translate concepts into actionable items 
  • Must possess consultative style and authentic approach, with proven ability to develop credible relationships 
  • Proven ability to influence decision making; courage to make tough decisions and deliver difficult messages 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project/program management skills 
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills 
  • Exercise a high degree of professionalism and diplomacy in interactions with all levels of the organization 
  • Strong experience and demonstrated skills in handling a variety of employee relations matters 
  • Excellent follow through skills and the ability to anticipate and address business needs proactively 
  • Possess strong work ethic; self-motivated with a desire to take initiative and look for ways to improve processes and create efficiencies 
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills in managing through multiple priorities with overlapping tasks across multiple businesses 
  • Highly adaptable to a fluid and ever-changing work environment 
  • Must be able to operate in a demanding, fast paced and high stress/pressure environment 

Preferred Education and Experience: 

  • Experience within digital, entertainment or sports industry preferred. Familiarity with studio and broadcast operations a plus. 
  • Experience working with Production Studios    
  • Experience supporting organizations with large a contingent workforce  

Physical Demands: 

  • Occasional light lifting and standing. 

Travel: 

  • Occasional travel 

Expected Hours of Work: 

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include occasional weekend and holiday work during peak times throughout the year. 
  • Occasional weekend work during peak game season. 

 

Salary

$140,000 - $180,000 USD

At the NFL, in-person work at our offices is a top priority because it allows us to collaborate more effectively, build stronger connections, and maintain the culture that drives our success. This role requires onsite presence at an NFL office or stadium location, and remote and/or hybrid working options are not offered.
