Senior Manager, Labor Operations

Summary

The Senior Manager will work with the Labor Operations and Player Personnel staff to safeguard compliance with the NFL Constitution & Bylaws, the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), and other League rules designed to preserve and enhance the competitive aspects and integrity of the game.

This candidate will be responsible for supporting the Labor Operations and area of the Management Council and ensuring club compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Salary Cap, and player personnel regulations and policies. Specifically, the candidate must be an expert in the NFL Salary Cap, and must maintain contact with various club executives, answer questions, and offer advice regarding Player Contract and roster scenarios. The candidate will also be expected to contribute significantly to the League’s International efforts. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for managing numerous administrative processes, including audit of all signed and executed Player Contracts and daily reconciliation of the Salary Cap. The candidate must be an effective team player, self-reliant, highly motivated, and attentive to details.

Responsibilities

The position reports to the Vice President of Labor Operations, and works directly with the entire Labor Operations and Player Personnel staff as follows:

  • Ensure club compliance with the CBA and League rules by serving as the primary point of contact with Club executives in matters pertaining to the Salary Cap, player contracts, and contract proposals. Interpret and explain CBA provisions and Salary Cap accounting rules to club negotiators.
  • Provide advice to NFL Clubs on memoranda issued by the NFL Management Council. Assist in the drafting and editing of advice memoranda to executive club personnel regarding interpretations of various CBA and Salary Cap accounting rules.
  • Manage the daily Salary Cap reconciliation process, including, but not limited to contract review, Salary Cap treatment, and CBA compliance.
  • Support the draft selection process during the NFL College Draft.
  • Assist in preparations for and negotiations with the NFLPA in collective bargaining sessions.
  • Leverage football experience to assist with the Front Office and Coach Accelerator Programs.
  • Oversee the planning of the annual Labor Seminar.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook) and the NFL’s Football Information System Website
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities
  • Excellent judgement and attention to detail
  • Expert understanding of NFL rules expressed in the NFL Constitution and Bylaws and the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Experience working with NFL clubs and primary football front office personnel
  • Experience building and giving presentations to senior executives

Terms / Expected Hours of Work

  • NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week. The position may require work beyond standard business hours

Salary / Pay Range

The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range. 

Salary

$125,000 - $155,000 USD

This role requires onsite presence at an NFL office or stadium location, and remote and/or hybrid working options are not offered.
