Role Overview
As the Engineering Director for Store and Account & Identity, you will lead the vision, strategy, and execution of core services that power critical consumer experiences across Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE). This role is central to enabling SIE’s continued growth and delivering seamless, secure, and engaging digital experiences at a global scale.
You will be responsible for building and operating high-scale, resilient platform services that support store and identity functionalities, used by millions of users and driving multi-billion-dollar revenue. Your focus will include advancing engineering excellence, driving platform evolution, and ensuring system performance, scalability, and availability across a rapidly expanding ecosystem.
This highly collaborative role involves leading globally distributed engineering teams, working closely with product management, architecture, quality assurance, and operations to deliver extensible, forward-looking capabilities. Your deep technical background in large-scale systems, CI/CD, performance engineering, and platform modernization will be essential to guiding the team through a period of transformation and innovation.

Leads and enables teams of Engineering Managers, Software Engineers, SDETs and Technical Program Managers to deliver highly available, scalable, and performant services in the cloud.

Performs a key leadership role in the technology transformation of the existing capabilities and innovation of new capabilities supporting business growth

Leads and delivers results against the platform strategy roadmap for the enterprise. This includes setting vision, gathering requirements, gaining business consensus, performing vendor and product evaluations, mentoring business and development resources, and delivering solutions.

Participates in product roadmap discussions, identifies key areas for improvement in the product and incorporate these goals into ongoing & future development initiatives

Defines the technical vision, architectural foundation, and engineering standards for a modern, scalable identity platform.

Balances near-term delivery with long-term system resilience and evolution.

Defines and evolves team-level quality metrics, including defect rates, availability, deploy frequency, and MTTR.
Essentials:
-
BS or MS degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience. MS in CS or IS preferred with emphasis on data science, architecture and modeling or database design.

Seasoned director or senior director level experience leading identity, accounts, notifications, or digital rights management services for a large-scale company.

Extensive recent experience with technology transformation, specifically designing, implementing, and operating automated, self-service solutions in AWS.

10+ years’ experience required in delivering enterprise scale solutions in support of on-line, secure, scalable, resilient software as a service delivery required.

10+ years of leading, inspiring, and growing leaders of engaged software engineering and operational agile teams.
-
Experience leading organizations in researching new and emerging technologies to realize potential value, business fit, operations, and cost efficiencies of implementing such technologies is vital.

Extensive experience with cost center ownership and fiscal year budget management

Must possess the drive and passion for technology leadership with the ability to excite, mentor, and empower organizations

Must possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills and be able to work with others at all levels, effective at working with geographically remote and culturally diverse teams.

Proficiency in both verbal and written - Japanese and English languages
