As we continue to expand our practice and take on more complex cases, the role of the Paralegal has become increasingly integral to our mission. As a Paralegal at Oliver Law Office, you will play a critical role in supporting our attorneys and ensuring the smooth progression of personal injury and product liability cases through both pre-litigation and litigation stages. Your meticulous attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and empathetic client interactions will be pivotal in delivering the high-quality legal services that our clients deserve.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Case Management: Oversee the flow and timelines of all auto injury and product liability cases. Ensure medical records and bills are requested, followed up on, and compiled into comprehensive settlement packages, including lost wages and other essential information. Draft and send demand letters and settlement packages to adjusters. Manage an off-site medical request vendor if applicable.
  • Legal Document Preparation: Draft complaints, manage service of process for all new injury complaints, and prepare early discovery disclosures, including Civ.R. 26 initial disclosures. Schedule the Conference of Parties and draft written discovery, such as Interrogatories, Requests for Production of Documents, and Requests for Admissions.
  • Client Interaction: Collaborate with clients to gather information, respond to written discovery requests, and finalize objections and answers. Maintain a compassionate and professional demeanor while providing updates on case progress.
  • Document Management: Organize and maintain both electronic and physical case files. Utilize document management software, such as Filevine, to print and analyze reports on project statuses, case timelines, statutes of limitations, and settlement negotiations. Review and analyze documents produced during discovery, leveraging AI and other tools as needed.
  • Trial Preparation: Assist attorneys in trial preparation by organizing exhibits, preparing witness lists, coordinating with experts, and supplementing discovery as needed prior to trial. Attend depositions, hearings, and trials to provide support.
  • Administrative Support: Schedule calls and meetings with clients, attorneys, and experts. Attend Zoom conferences and assist with other administrative tasks. Communicate with clients, witnesses, experts, and other parties as directed by attorneys.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years as a paralegal in personal injury and/or product liability litigation, including substantial experience handling litigation processes.
  • Education: An associate's degree in paralegal studies or a related field is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in legal research tools and AI applications. Familiarity with document management software such as Lead Docket and Filevine, as well as above-average knowledge of Microsoft Excel and spreadsheets.
  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously, maintain organized records, and adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with a focus on clarity and professionalism.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information.
