Cost Control Manager
About the Position
We are thrilled to offer an exceptional opportunity for a Cost Control Manager to join a prestigious mass transit project in San Francisco, CA. In this critical role, the Cost Control Manager will oversee project cost management, establish and monitor control budgets, and implement effective cost control strategies and recommendations. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in large-scale metro or rail projects, coupled with outstanding analytical abilities and excellent communication skills.
This is a long-term, part-time, on-site position located in San Francisco, CA.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead implementation of cost control plans, procedures and best practices.
- Develop Cost Breakdown Structure and control budget in consultation with project team and relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor actual costs / expenses against the project budget / commitments and prepare cost reports including dashboards to provide Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), progress and performance information and cash flow projections.
- Identify potential cost savings and cost control opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and provide recommendations for project change orders and cost variations
- Verify contractor, vendor and supplier invoices.
- Develop and maintain cost databases and historical cost records for future reference.
- Review cost estimates and provide analysis for various project elements, including materials, labor, equipment, and other resources.
- Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and project team members.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10+ years’ cost control and budget management experience in leadership positions on large heavy civil projects in metro or rail.
- Experience in cost management systems (e.g., InEight, EcoSys, Oracle Unifier, etc.)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of local and federal codes and standards.
Compensation Details
The salary range listed for this role is $118k-$174k annually ($57-$84/hr). The final salary offered is based on multiple factors and is thoughtfully aligned with each candidate’s level of experience, breadth of skills, total education achieved, certifications/licenses that have been obtained, etc.
