The Paralegal position will provide support to the Litigation, IP and Employment legal groups on a wide range of litigation, intellectual property, employment and insurance matters, related to the NFL’s business and operations, as well as provide legal operations support including finance and billing management, coordination with legal department vendors and outside counsel, tracking insurance claims, and administration of legal department software and systems. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, organize and maintain legal case files; oversee and track litigation dockets and internal deadlines
  • Work closely with attorneys on cases and legal projects, including discovery, subpoena responses, enforcement matters, court conferences, hearings, trials, arbitration and mediation
  • Administer and input data to legal department case management and legal hold systems
  • Draft, review and revise correspondence and other legal documents; complete PACER and legal research as needed
  • Compile records for and tracking of insurance claims, correspondence, and reimbursements
  • Gather and organize records, documents and other evidence for legal matters, including by coordinating with business and operations departments
  • Set up outside counsel and legal department vendors for invoice submission and payment, and coordinating with the Finance department on same
  • Additional practice support and administrative assignments as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree from an accredited 4-Year College or University
  • At least 1-year of paralegal experience (law firm preferred)
  • Ability to work on projects requiring a high level of discretion and confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Familiarity with the following functions: litigation case lifecycle, pleading and document management; legal spend and matter tracking; commercial, intellectual property, insurance, and/or employment subject areas.
  • A strong ability to multi-task and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to create, maintain, and leverage a precise filing system for legal documents
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities Proficient in Microsoft Office, legal case management software (e.g., TeamConnect), budgeting and invoice processing tools
  • Online research skills a plus

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, be team-oriented and manage time effectively

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to manage movement of bulky, and sometimes heavy, files (20+ pounds)

Travel:

  • Occasionally, if necessary

Terms /Expected Hours of Work:

NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week. The paralegal position requires availability to work overtime (time worked more than 40 hours) and weekend work, when necessary

Salary / Pay Range

The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials, or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.

 

Salary

$37.50 - $41 USD
