As a Case Development Investigator, you’ll be central to how we evaluate and advance potential class and collective actions. You’ll investigate employers, spot legal issues, develop opt-in cohorts, and package facts for litigation decision-making. You’ll collaborate closely with our intake team to ensure promising leads are fully developed and no potential plaintiff falls through the cracks.
What you’ll do:
- Case Investigation & Issue-Spotting: Research employers’ ownership, structure, prior litigation, solvency, and pay practices; identify potential wage theft or related violations; synthesize findings into clear, evidence-based memos.
- Claim Evaluation: Assess the viability of matters under federal and state wage-and-hour standards and provide recommendations on whether to advance, refine, or decline.
- Opt-In Strategy & Execution: Build cohesive opt-in groups for collective and class actions; manage outreach, authorizations, and paperwork; keep participants informed and engaged.
- Evidence Development: Compile timelines, document lists, declarations, call notes, and damages inputs; prepare organized case packets for pre-suit demands and attorney review.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with intake and marketing teams to ensure promising leads are fully developed; monitor blog, press, and industry trends to support campaigns.
- Data Discipline: Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in Clio Manage and related systems, using consistent naming and filing conventions for reliable documentation.
- Client Communication: Conduct professional, empathy-driven fact calls; gather clarifications and documents while ensuring legal questions are promptly escalated to attorneys.
- Compliance & Consent: Adhere to firm protocols for note-taking and communication; do not record calls without appropriate consent.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience: At least 1–2 years of experience in investigations, research, or legal support (such as paralegal, legal assistant, or case management roles). Experience in employment law or wage-and-hour matters is especially valuable.
- Employment Law Fluency: Familiarity with wage-and-hour concepts such as overtime, minimum wage, tip credits, side-work rules, and misclassification is highly advantageous.
- Language: Bilingual in Spanish and English is not required but highly valued for connecting with a broader client base.
- Investigative Mindset: Strong curiosity to dig deep, connect dots, and validate claims with clear evidence.
- Systems & Speed: Proficiency with Clio Manage and productivity tools; fast, accurate typing while capturing live details.
- Writing & Synthesis: Ability to draft clear, concise memos and prepare organized packets that make attorney review efficient.
- People Skills: Poised and empathetic communicator who can slow fast talkers, ask focused follow-up questions, and build trust quickly.
- Onsite Engagement: Thrives in an onsite role at our Fort Lauderdale office, where close collaboration with attorneys, intake, marketing and operations is essential to building strong cases and developing opt-in groups.
Why you should work here:
- Empowering Culture: Join a firm that values honesty, good energy, and a commitment to excellence.
- Team Dynamics: Work with a vibrant, motivated team that loves collaboration and thrives on achieving shared goals.
- Growth Opportunities: Be part of a rapidly growing firm, with opportunities for personal and professional development.
- Meaningful Impact: Contribute to a mission that transforms lives, advocating for fairness and justice in the workplace.
