Director of Analytics, Tokyo – Sony Interactive Entertainment (PlayStation)

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), the home of PlayStation, is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Analytics to lead and grow our team of data professionals in Tokyo. This role is pivotal in driving the development and implementation of advanced analytics and reporting solutions and offers a unique opportunity to drive impactful data-driven decisions across the organization and help shape the future of PlayStation hardware and services for players worldwide. 

The Director will collaborate across various departments to develop and manage end-to-end hardware analytics, ensuring reporting strategies, specification design, and actionability meet business needs. The position aims to significantly impact hardware Product and hardware operations outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership:
  • Manage and develop a high-performing analytics organization, including managers and individual contributors.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence in analytics and data science.
• Strategic Business Support:
  • Partner with senior leaders in Hardware Operations, Product, Corporate Finance, and other key business areas to provide actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Ensure PlayStation hardware products are optimized to serve player needs by leveraging the wealth of data at our disposal.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with global data and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of analytics across operations.
  • Champion partnerships across SIE’s global analytics and data communities.
• Organizational Development:
  • Lead efforts to accelerate the data maturity of the broader organization in Tokyo and beyond, establishing best practices and driving data-centric culture.
  • Advocate for the adoption of advanced analytics tools, methodologies, and frameworks across teams.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Proven track record of managing and scaling analytics and data science teams within global companies.
• Exceptional communication skills in both Japanese and English, with the ability to effectively engage stakeholders across cultural and organizational boundaries.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the drive to shape and influence organizational culture through data.
• Experience working in complex, matrixed environments with cross-functional and cross-regional stakeholders.
• Deep understanding of analytics, data science, and engineering practices, including statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and data visualization.
• Expertise in developing strategies to translate complex data into business insights that drive decision-making.
• Familiarity with hardware, technology or gaming industries is a plus.

資格およびスキル：

• グローバル企業におけるアナリティクスおよびデータサイエンスチームのマネジメント実績。

• 日本語および英語での卓越したコミュニケーションスキル、文化や組織の境界を越えてステークホルダーと効果的に関わる能力。

• データを通じて組織文化を形成し、影響を与える推進力と、優れたクリティカルシンキングおよび問題解決能力。

• 複雑なマトリックス環境での業務経験があり、部門横断的かつ地域横断的なステークホルダーと連携した経験。

• 統計分析、予測モデリング、データ可視化など、アナリティクス、データサイエンス、エンジニアリング実務に関する深い理解。

• 複雑なデータからビジネス上のインサイトを引き出し、意思決定を促す戦略を構築する専門性。

• ハードウェア、テクノロジー、ゲーム業界に関する知識があれば尚可。
